It looks nice!
Is this the 90-minute version that does most of the show on flashback and ends with Defying Gravity?
i cant wait to hear the cast album.

It's the full-version that just opened on the 17th (in Japan time)
The one you were talking about is the one at Universal Studios Japan.
(Which, I believe, is still running)

I actually think the set looks nice, a lot more colorful than others. Also, it it in Japanese, or English. Or half Japanese and half English?

They have three Galindas, two Elphabas, 1 Nessarose, 2 Madame Morrible, 2 Fiyero, 3 Boq, 2 Dr. Dillamond, and 2 Wizards...
Why so many?

In Japan, they usually cast multiple actors for each role. Shiki Productions (who produces many of those musicals in Japan like CATS, Mamma Mia, Lion King, and this one), as well as Toho, (Les Mis, Miss Saigon, etc) has been multi-casting most of the lead/supporting roles.

EDIT: You beat me to it COOOLkid while I was typing :)
Well, it's not really that unusual in Japan to have several 'troupes'/casts playing the same show at once. They alternate and give it a bit more variety I guess. At the same time, they're more than likely to be a cover when needed - with a guaranteed amount of experience because of the regular rotation.

wait, so they really switch off between actors during the show? That is really bizarre.
I'm sure there is a 'they-all-look-alike-so-who-would-know-the-difference' joke to put in here, but I'm not that kind of person.
lol... yeah, I am not that knid of person either, but when I read your post it did make me laugh
So, if a cast recording is made, will it feature all of the performers on it, or just specific ones?
"Is this the 90-minute version that does most of the show on flashback and ends with Defying Gravity?"
It's not 90 minute version, what you're talking about is a 30 minute version that's at the Universal Studios theme park there.
lol... that question was answered a few posts ago...
Wow, a 30 minute version...
lakezurich, I think cooperross just wanted to specify the time of the Universal Studios show.
yeah, I guess that is true. It just makes me laugh when people do not read the entire board and just respond to a question that has already been answered

EVen though I'm a huge Japanese pop culture junky (manga-ka Moto Hagio and director Hayao Miyazaki are two of my heroes) I always kinda forget the extreme love many in Japan have for Western style (and Euro style of course) musicals--I've taught a few Japanese ESL students and nearly all fo them, particularly the girls, make a point of going to New York, even though it's on the opposite coast (I'm right now on the West coast of Canada), before they leave N America always to see a Broadway show.
Umm Lake with all due respect how does that even have anything to do with your reply then? The time frame comment hadn't been answered...
E
it does make sense, because cooperross replied to a question that was already answered, and I simply stated that when people answer questions on a board without checking if they have been answered or not it makes me laugh. It didn't seem that complicated to me to connect the dots here, but I guess maybe my wording might have been confusing?

Usually they just record the best cast, I think, unless they record the show live multiple times like they did with Les Miserables (amazing quality, by the way)
I just e-mailed Shiki and they said that they aren't sure whether they're going to be recording it or not.
lakezurich I DID read the post previous to mine but I was correcting the running time of the show, and merely reiterating that it was a 'theme park' show as opposed to the actual production.
