"Wicked" Atlanta

Ok, so the tour is in Atlanta for a month and I saw the show this past weekend. WOW! It is tight and clean. I expected that it would be a little sluggish after being out on the road for so long, but it was good.

Katie Clarke was precious and hilarious as Glinda. She made me lol several times. Her qwirky take on things was spot on. A fresh take at the role in my opinion.

The kicker for me was Donna Vivino as Elphaba. My oh my does she kill it in this role. Her voice is tremendous and her acting is so good. I was not expecting that at all and was actually a bit disappointed when I noticed that Carmen was not on for the matinee.

I am not sure if the entire run is sold out, but I might try for the lottery next week. I'd like to see Carmen in the role.

I'm seeing the tour in January. I REALLY hope Donna takes over for Carmen.

Glad you enjoyed the show! You should get tickets to the final show in Atlanta- It's Carmen's, Katie;s, Brad's, DeeDee's, and someone else who I can't remember right now, last show.

That should be an amazing night.

Checked out some clips of Donna Vivino on "the site." Not sure who will be Elphaba when I see the tour in Louisville, KY in January, but I would not be disappointed to see Ms. Vivino's name in my playbill.

We saw Wicked on Oct. 14th and Donna played Elphaba in that show. I am telling you, Donna absolutely rocks that part. We are going to seee it again on the 30th. (We just couldn't get enough) So i'm not sure who we will see as Elphaba that day, but I would love for it to be Donna again. Oh and the lady who plays Galinda is just Hysterical, absolutely wonderful for that part. We often immitate her tatntrums at our house if something doesn't go our way. LOL. Who was originally cast for Elphaba in Atlanta? I can't imagine anyone else playing that part now, and I was quiet shocked to find out that Donna was an understudy.

Donna Vivino will be replacing Carmen Cusack as the new principle Elphaba on November 5th.

Meredith Kaye Clark, who is currently serving as the second cover in the ensemble, is being bumped up to replace Donna as the new standby effective that same date.

The tour is getting ready for a big cast turnover. Katie Rose Clarke has extended her contract as Glinda, but they'll lose Cusack on November 2nd, Brad Weinstock (Boq) on November 9th, and Clifton Hall (Fiyero) and Deedee Magno Hall (Nessarose) on November 16th.

I'm not sure who is taking over as the new Nessarose, but Ben Liebert (currently in the Broadway company) is replacing Weinstock as Boq and Richard Blake (fresh from LEGALLY BLONDE) is replacing Hall as Fiyero.

I'm glad to hear Katie Rose Clark has extended and I'm anxious to see Donna as Elphaba. I have tickets for two performances when "Wicked" is in Louisville in January.

But someone elses played Galinda and she was not as good as the first Galinda we saw. although she was very talented and had a beautiful voice. The other Galinda's actions were just so funny and spontaneous.
