I have a feeling that eventhough "Spamalot" received 14 noms, I think they won't walk away with many at all (maybe 2 or 3). I see a "Light" and "Bee" suprise. And "Chitty" will get all the tech awards.
So what will they win?

I really hope Spamalot does not walk away with a large stack of awards. I think TLITP will challenge Chitty for some of the tech awards. I hope TLITP, Bee, and DRS all pull some awards.

Though I'm an admitted Spamaphile, I agree with you. It's not going to be a 'Producers' type thing, where they take everything.
Tim Curry might get it, because he's Tim Curry.
Sara Ramirez seems to be the only sure thing about this years nominees, but her category is tough.
I would LOVE to see Sieber win featured actor, but - sadly - doubt it. Had it been Christian Borle (grrrr.)
It could take some technical categories.
I, too, predict that Piazza and Bee will battle it out for best musical, best score, etc.

Posted: 5/10/05 at 1:53pmIt will probably take Best Musical, Best Director, Best Featured Actress and maybe one of the tech awards.

Posted: 5/10/05 at 1:54pmI love Tim Curry, but if wins over Norbert I may storm Radio City and start a riot!

I haven't seen DRS, but I just remember a lot of people around here really surprised Norbert was nominated as leading, because his part seemed more featured, or something? I dunno if that'll help/hurt...whatever.

Posted: 5/10/05 at 1:58pmCurry? I was sure he was leading in Spamalot and would get a nod, but Morbert's performance is astonishingly creative.

Posted: 5/10/05 at 2:04pmNorbert is featured? Are you people for real? I am more surprised that Sherie is considered leading, given that she is not on stage at all for the first hour of the show.

Posted: 5/10/05 at 2:08pmI hope the cast of spamalot won't win in all categories because Norbert and Joanna have a strong pisition to.

I think it is safe to say NO ONE who has seen the show thought Norbert should have been Featured!
He is absolutely a co-lead with Litgow.
Sherie I can see being featured but once she shows up she has a lot of material.
*I was very confused by your unupdated post because it was very much more likely people would consider Curry featured than Norbert Magictodo.

Whoa, sorry guys.
Like I said, "I haven't seen DRS."
And I meant Norbert in my previous post, which is why I updated it. With Tim Curry being the one person in Spamalot who plays only one role, and that role being King Arthur, I assumed it was fairly obvious that if anyone in Spamalot got Leading Actor, it would be him.

Yep but that was why I was confused.
I say check out DRS if you get the chance!
But Norbert is leading and I think even with John, Hank and Tim in there a strong favorite to win.
#12re: Will 'Spam' Walk Away With Tonys?
Posted: 5/10/05 at 2:17pmI do not think Spamalot will win Best Musical. I hope that award goes to DRS, which should also win Best Leading Actor in a musical for Norbert.

Buntz will win cause he's paid his dues and is popular.
I don't see any of the Spams taking an acting award and I think Sara is on the bubble with Kelli.
But all the music awards will go to Light.

Posted: 5/10/05 at 2:36pmPiazza will hopefully sweep the tech awards, Norbert best win Leading Actor, and Dan Fogler supporting actor. Clark for Lead Actress, and Bee for Musical. So in conclusion, I hope Spamalot walks away with nothing, but if I gotta give em something, it's Ramirez.

Posted: 5/10/05 at 3:07pmI'd really like to see Ramirez take it home, but I must admit that Kelli O'Hara is really growing on me. I hope she gives Sara a run for her money in the featured category.

Believe me, if I ever make it to NYC again I plan to check out DRS, in addition to tons of other things.
And while Sara Ramirez SEEMS unshakable, I wouldn't even blink if Kelli O'Hara won the Tony.

Posted: 5/10/05 at 3:24pmIf any of the other shows launch as serious a campaign as Q did (which I believe Bee will) Spamalot's chances of winning the Best Musical Tony will get thinner. They will win Best Supporting Actress, without a doubt.

SPAM is guareented at least one tony, and that's Featured Actress because of Sara Ramirez, she's just amazing. The other awards are up in the air, but I think that it will at least get Best Musical, Best Book, and Best Score/lyrics; I don't think it will get Best Leading Actor because of Norbert, but you never what's going to happen, but if it makes alot of you unhappy just remember, "Always look on the bright side of life."

It wont get book. Bee will.
And it wont get score Piazza probably will.
And they had better start engraving Sara, Norbert, Victoria, and Dan (Fogler)'s Tony awards right now.

Posted: 5/10/05 at 3:56pmYou're so right. Start engraving that Tony with Kelli's name on it.

I'll have to disagree with you because I think that between Spamalot and Spelling Bee, the one with a better storyline is Spamalot because, honestly who wants to see a show about a Spelling Bee. More people will want to see a show set in some far off place like Camelot, Paris, Germany,London, etc.
That's why I think that SPAM will get the tony for book
