With all this talk of musical theater and the show a tv-musical, most folks (besides the ones that have already been on Broadway, Lea Michelle, etc), do you think the other cast members will have that goal to do Broadway as well?
Thanks!

Posted: 10/13/09 at 4:03pmThey may not be coming to Broadway anytime soon. However, you might get to see them across the US. There is talk about a GLEE tour after the season wraps.

Posted: 10/14/09 at 1:49pmThey won't be performing in this years Macy's Thanksgiving Parade. Apparently, NBC, who broadcasts the show, has exercised some veto power over a Glee performance.

^ They're trying to get on the bandwagon themselves. NBC just announced a show-choir themed competition show to find the best singing group in America.

Posted: 10/14/09 at 2:03pmIt's an a cappella competition not show choir, and this has been in the works for several months.

Yes, but really, NBC is just bitter that Glee gets better ratings in one night than all 5 episodes of Jay Leno in a week.

Posted: 10/14/09 at 2:40pmActually, Clash of the Choirs was also on NBC. These were amateur choirs compiled by celebrities who then were responsible for training their choir each week. Not the same as established A Cappella groups competing.

Posted: 10/14/09 at 4:23pmI agree, and It's kinda weird for NBC to promote a show that is a rival of theirs. I love 'Glee' and would of liked to see it in the Parade. It's all politics and business. Everybody is jumping on the bandwagon now with the musical shows with the success that 'Glee' has.

Posted: 10/14/09 at 7:27pmNBC has a new show coming out that has to do with show-choir competition. Which is essentially the same thing Glee is, minus the competitive aspect.

Posted: 10/14/09 at 8:21pmDid you read the thread? As I mentioned above, the NBC show is about A Cappella groups, not show choirs. And the show was in the works long before Glee became a hit.

Maybe so, but reality is that's why it was dropped. You don't need to get nasty. I'm sorry I stole your brilliant idea.
EDIT: Some fact checking, NBC just ordered the show and auditions became in September. The Glee pilot was shot last year.

alightinthedark, the only reality is that none of us know why it was dropped. There's no nastiness involved, simple common sense that comments should be informed, not conjecture.
The auditions were not in September. As I said this show was in the works for several months, with much happening over the summer. Glee was not a 'hit' until the season resumed in September. They are two different shows. A situational dramedy with random glee club singing, and a reality type show involving A Cappella groups are hardly the same thing. At all. If anything, the NBC show is a rip off of American Idol, or the many other reality based singing shows, like the Clash of the Choirs mentioned earlier in the thread.
p.s. What "brilliant idea" of mine did you steal??

I think it's pretty obvious though why the show was dropped. And after reading the statement that Ryan Murphy released, I think that pretty much confirmed it. The link posted said that the show had yet to be cast. while I understand it's possible that the show was in the works, there is nothing in any article that I was able to dig up. Therefore, I am entitled to believe that the show is a rip off of Glee.
From reading the thread before I posted, many of the people were saying the same thing I did. You got very defensive over your posts. This isn't an outing.
