Woman's World would make a great period musical.

Posted: 7/1/06 at 4:35pmThis underated 50's classic is a beautiful tribute to New York City of yesteryear. In it three husbands (in the film Cornell Wilde, Van Heflin and Fred MacMurray) compete for a a General Manager job in New York City, but their CEO (Clifton Webb) thinks the key lies in their three very different wives (June Allyson, Arlene Dahl and Lauren Bacall, respectively). Does anybody agree that this would make a fun period musical?

Posted: 7/1/06 at 7:11pmI knew it was underrated, but now I'm beginning to think that the movie might be too obscure. Has anybody else out there seen this forgotten gem?

Posted: 7/1/06 at 8:13pmI saw it last week and had the same thought, but I don't think what it says about women's roles in society would be relevant or appreciated these days. In fact I think it would probably be howled down. A bit like "Letter To Three Wives"...

Posted: 7/1/06 at 8:17pmThere was a rumor not too many years ago about a stage version of Letter to Three Wives. I don't know how far it actually got.
