I expect I'll get completely trampled for this, but the performers and creative team all seem really strong.
Could this be a sleeper hit, or have they all lost their judgement?

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised.
With names like Testa, Roberts and Hoffman signing on...there has to be SOMETHING there.
I know everyone talks about how performers need a job. But, I also think that they're smart and don't think performers with their experience would sign themselves on to a piece of crap.

Broadway is a crapshoot.
Of course it could be a sleeper hit.
It could also suck.
I must say....given the pedigree of the show....if it's the latter case, it's gonna be a pretty good bad show.

Posted: 3/19/07 at 6:28pmI think it is just what summer in NYC needs. Frothy, jubliant fun. It has a great cast and team. I am anxious to see it. If it has the right momentum it could do well. I wish it all the best. :)

Posted: 3/19/07 at 7:00pmI'm not convinced its ever going to actually open. They have absolutely no reserve in their raised capital. That means if the show gets terrible reviews it will literally close the next day. Thats a very big risk.

Posted: 3/19/07 at 7:04pmWell, it's going to open...it's how long it stays open that's the thing. There's no out-of-town tryout so it will preview in NY and have an official opening night. If it get's universally panned...it might be the biggest flop yet. But it will technically open.

Posted: 3/19/07 at 7:09pmHey, if Lestat & Nick & Nora thought to be hits bombed, anything is possible
#12re: Xanadu- could it be a hit?
Posted: 3/19/07 at 7:15pmNo one thought Lestat was going to hit.

Posted: 3/19/07 at 7:20pmI would assume the investors thought they had a shot with the title & Elton John unless it was a B & B production

Posted: 3/19/07 at 8:04pmI'm very excited to see James Carpinello in action.
