Posted: 1/6/06 at 2:25amFrom what I can tell, casting is complete. The only thing we know about opening is "March." Many people have been speculatiing about this, but we can't come up with any more information than that, unfortunately.

So I was just over at the Chicago Spelling Bee website and I'm a bit confused. For Chip, they've listed the character name as Isaac “Chip” Berkowitz instead of Charlito "Chip" Tolentino. Does anyone know why they changed his name?

Maybe he's very not-Asian-looking?
(Then again, David Campbell was playing Chip Tolentino in Melbourne, and he isn't, either...)

Chip is being played by a friend of mine, Brad Weinstock, who (as his last name suggests) is Jewish. I do think he could pass for Italian, though, if that's the ethnicity of "Tolentino" (though Jose is Filipino, I realize).
Either way, he's going to make a phenomenal Chip, so don't let the new last name deter you. Can't wait!

That's a different Borders. The Drury Lane is at Water Tower Place, which is about a mile away from the Oriental Theatre.
*EDIT
I just looked at ticket prices. WOW! They are really cheap. I'm very surprised. I know they aren't under the Broadway Equity contract, but that hasn't stopped them charging the full price for non-equity shows. I definitely would get VIP tickets to this one (it's still cheaper than what it would cost on Broadway at regular price).
