Did anyone by chance catch the joke that Julia makes about their "saturday night in the city"?
When she says that it was her twin "Drunky McWasted"--come on.
How horrible is that writing?
Has to be one of the corniest things i've ever heard.

Did you join the website to post this? that is indeed a lame joke, but the show doesn't intend to be a nobel prize. It is one lame joke, but that takes about 1 minute to be said and this show is about 2 1/2 hours and it has great musical numbers and great dancers and singers. Plus you said that Tina played the role of Julia, the night after opening night, and that information is absolutely wrong.

teebz said he loved the show in another thread but he hated Tina(which is really Laura, LOL)
"Nope--im absolutley positive it was her.
I remember it because as I was reading the playbill--I noticed the whole thing about how she was the first bride in Mamma Mia!
And she looked nothing like Laura Benanti".

I adore the show. But I really do think they should cut that line. It didn't land. And it almost made you (the audience) feel embarassed for the character of Julia for being dorky and lame. It did not endear you toward her. (And I've seen both Laura Benanti and Tina Maddigan say it.) Cringe.
One line could never ruin the show, but I do wish they'd trim it off.

I haven't seen the show- I'd love to see it soon. It's on my list to see afterschool finals.
Though, I understand this is an 80's musical... and "Drunky McWasted," or any other nameplay around that, isn't so 80's.
Just a thought.
