Being from NYC, I never have seen a national tour in my life. However, now that I go to college near Boston, I decided to see the national tour of Sweeney Todd...
and I am SO HAPPY I did.
I went to the box office literally 20 minutes before curtain and got a student rush ticket in 6th row center! When I saw it on Broadway, I sat in the rear mezzanine, so this was a special treat. Also, now that I was more familiar with the music and story, I could pay attention to detail. Every single cast member was either better than they were on Broadway or stronger than their Broadway counterpart. Yes, that means I liked Judy and David (s/b) more than Patti and Michael. I guess this is just the type of show one enjoys more the second time around. Anyway, I'll give a more detailed review tomorrow. All in all, I highly recomment this show, especially to those who have seen it before.

True for almoat all the Sondheim shows. Thay gain with familiarity. I am so glad you enjoyed it. I am going to the Toronto opening night next week. Looking forward to it!
Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!
I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com

Where'd all of the other posts go?
Yes I didnt like it the first time, I liked it the second time, but the third time, which was the final broadway performance I absolutely LOVED it. So I agree with you.
I saw the revival on Broadway twice and have to agree that I enjoyed it more the second time. Can't wait to see this production when it stops in Louisville, KY.
