Because my computer and I are mortal enemies and I don't want it to know it beat me, would someone (Rob I'm looking at you) kindly tell me how to get a snazzy little picture above my name. thanks.

You need to go into your profile. That would be under "Your Settings" where you log in. There's an option for photos there.
