re: No Blockbuster Musical This Season
 Dec 7 2009, 04:16:33 AM
My new rule of thumb: If a show needs to put "the musical" after its title, I'm not seeing it no matter who wrote it or who's in it. The faux musicals, to steal a term from LaChiusa. need to go away.

Poor Finian's Rainbow.

It's not really inside info that a call has gone out. I was looking at equity auditions last week and this was listed.

re: Songs in the theme of winter?

"Winter's on the Wing" from Secret Garden

And I'm pretty sure it's a law that every holiday cabaret must include "Turkey Lurkey Time".

Spiderman is next season.

"Come Fly With Me" and/or "American Idiot" could both prove to be strong box office draws.

re: Female duets
 Dec 7 2009, 01:28:49 AM
"Little Me" from Little Me
"Two's Company" or "Solid Silver Platform Shoes" from The Magic Show
"Best Friend" from LaChiusa's Wild Party
"Broadway, My Street" from 70, Girls, 70
"We Share Everything" from Side Show

re: NIght Music: How's the balcony?

I got queasy just looking at that picture and I'm not normally afraid of heights.
OVER HERE! on Broadway?
 Dec 6 2009, 01:59:50 AM
It's foolish. It's a limp show at best. To me it'd be like reviving New Faces or the Follies.

Oh balcony. I got that confused with the mez. Yeah, hell no. You couldn't pay me to sit up there.

Fine, go listen to your favorite soundtracks of in-between shows.

I think its fine to put them in your own personal categories. But in terms of serious journalism, not so much.

Hit.
re: Rob explains why some threads are deleted

Obviously.

The first few rows of the balcony are great. Anything beyond those I wouldn't do.

No, you're wrong. A hit returned its investment and a flop did not. Variety created this, not me. Even if they're a buck short of returning their investment it's still technically a flop.

" Knowing the blood, sweat and tears that goes into working on hits, flops and everything in between."

What exactly is between a hit and a flop? A flit? A hop?

You're either a hit or a flop. There's no in between.

Those Angie and Chita ornaments are gorgeous.
re: 'WONDERLAND' TV Spot. Really?
 Dec 5 2009, 06:21:26 PM
I'm so glad I got this concept recording so I can sell it for mega bucks when this thing flops out of twon.

Urinetown has had a highly successful regional life. So has Last 5 years.

I'm sure Rosie will release the Taboo rights to pay for her divorce.

OVER HERE! on Broadway?

This is an idiotic idea for a revival.
re: January 2010 closings!!!
 Dec 5 2009, 04:32:38 PM
I think my response was more aimed at the implication it would close on January 3rd which I think is doubtful.
