I saw this a few nights ago and have to agree with so much of what is said. I was so disappointed as someone who loves this show and had high hopes at least for the cast to carry the material through whatever issues there were with direction, but that's an impossible feat with direction this bad. The blocking is some of the worst I've ever seen and truly baffling. Someone brought up Billy's death scene and that was really a showcase of the fact that it seems as if O'Brien

Evan recently posted a video of her singing Edelweiss. I've heard her sing rock/pop but was surprised to hear just how suited her voice is to standards. So when are we going to get her in a legit musical?

I agree that Scarlett Strallen would be fantastic, as would Lisa O'Hare from the videos of the Lyric production. TBH I would love for most of that cast to transfer over.
Christy was an interesting mention only because she did Camelot at Drury Lane and if she was able to tackle Guinevere then Eliza would certainly be in her range, but my hat tips to

disneybroadwayfan22 They've changed "Crossing A Bridge"? It's really a complete rewrite from Hartford this late into previews?
That's the one moment that was always solid for me and the one new song along with "In My Dreams" that didn't need any reworking. It said a lot without being overstated. It sounds like they're getting overtly expositional. We know what/who she's thinking of without having to literally spell it out.

Ever since they announced it for the run in Chicago, I thought Lisa O'Hare is absolutely perfect for Eliza.
I think Scarlett Strallen could nail the comedic moments and sell the softer moments too, plus I'd basically just want to see her tackle almost anything.
I think for an American choice, Jessica Hershberg could be a really good option and her soprano is exceptional.
