The Greatest Sondheim Song
 Sep 6 2015, 05:21:33 PM

Similar to most people here a virtually impossible task but the song that leapt into my mind today was "No one is Alone"

First show seen on broadway?

Not sure but either Runaways or On the Twentieth Century. I was a bit jet-lagged at the time.

Shows you have seen in foreign languages
 Jan 9 2015, 10:30:46 AM
Living in Spain I have seen quite a lot in Spanish ranging from Evita, Barnum and A Chorus Line to in the last couple of years Follies and Les Miserables. I also have a couple of cast recordings in Catalan. Sweeney Todd and Night Music. I saw Sweeney in Spanish which was very good but didn't get to see a Spanish versión of Night Music.

Julia McKenzie as the Witch singing Last Midnight
 May 18 2014, 03:28:21 AM
Having first seen Ms McKenzie in Company back in 1971, I have always been impressed by the quality of her performances. Her performance as the witch is right up there with all her other stage work - a truly great actress who has taken my breath away on many occasions. I'm so grateful that a lot of her stuff is appearing little by little on internet. It gives me the chance to relive those sublime moments and it gives others the opportunity to see what an amazing talent she really is.
What Are Your Guilty Pleasure Shows?

Mary Poppins. I saw it in London and then New York and later a touring company in the UK. I just love the big production numbers - especially Anything Can Happen!
Les Mis Voted Greatest Musical, Wicked 2nd, Phantom 3rd

Very true Mister Matt - how can you take a poll like this seriously when Priscilla Queen of the Desert is voted as the 17th best musical and My Fair Lady is the 93rd? Makes no sense to me.
Les Mis Voted Greatest Musical, Wicked 2nd, Phantom 3rd

I spent most of the afternoon listening to Jemm Three in disbelief and later trying to leave a comment on the West End board which I could not! If this radio station wants to attract any sort of audience it should bury this list immediately and probably sack the DJ who introduced the second half of the list. His comments were nearly as banal as the list itself.

I tried 3 times yesterday to post something about this and all my posts vanished into the ether. Let's see if better luck today.

My last post vanished so here goes again.

Not quite sure who voted for this but My Fair Lady in the 90s and Fame at number 34 seems a little strange. Look forward to reading more comments.

Musicals originally written in Spanish?

Lovy el Musical from 1980 - promoted as the first Spanish musical. It was a mixture of all the pop musicals at that time and failed dismally. I saw one of the first performances which seemed to last forever (at least 4 hours) so wasn't really surprised at its demise.

The Five Best Sondheim Rhymes

Not really a rhyme either but Sondheim for me at his best from "Poor Baby"
She's tall enough to be your mother! Goliath!

Donmar revival of Passion
 Sep 22 2010, 01:20:54 PM
Big isn't always beautiful - I haven't seen this production and unfortunately won't be able to but a choice between seeing some of the big Broadway productions and this - my choice would be very clear. The London Times has given Ms Roger her very own star and the WOS critic is being slapped down right left and centre.
