Anyone seeing FOLLIES in LA tonight?  Jun 6 2012, 12:36:30 AM
I went to see the Sun Mat on May 27 and the stage door was amazing. Everyone came out after the show and we met Terri White, Jan Maxwell, Elaine Paige and saw the entire cast. We actually arrived early to find the stage door before the show and watched everyone go in to the theater. They were all so gracious and even took pics. The show was pretty amazing. The highlights for me were: Victoria Clark and Ron Raines singing Too Many Mornings. When she hit those high notes it literally took my breat

My favorite line in the interview - "You don't want to lose to some shlump."

She's priceless.

BET's 'One Night Only'  Feb 10 2007, 11:22:55 PM
I was surfing the tube tonight and stumbled upon a series called One Night Only on BET.

It is a reality series that follows the aspiring singers, actors and dancers of the oldest African-American high school in New Orleans, McDonogh 35 High School production of Dreamgirls. Having to fight just to keep their school open after Hurricane Katrina, these kids relish the opportunity to pull off a live stage production of Dreamgirls.

Has anyone seen this? It's a weekly series, so hop

I believe her Undergrad degree is in Vocal Performance actually. OCU didn't start the MT degree program until after she had completed her Undergrad.

Yep. Darcie was in the LA cast I believe.

Gr8 to see her back on Broadway. I think she would be a fabulous Janet in Drowsy.

re: How was Audra Mcdonald as Deena?  Jan 2 2007, 10:03:21 PM
Lol@soapguy's Norm Lewis comment.

Yea, the casting (outside of Lillias White) made me go......Hmmmm,what were they thinking? But then I saw it and thought...OK, that works.

Audra did much better than I expected and Heather Headley really surprised me. Out of all of them, that casting shocked me the most. But, she pulled it off IMO.

I was just happy they recorded the entire score.

I agree with everyone that says it's really not fair to compare actors. Especially in a movie performance vs. a broadway performance.

We all know it's inevitable, but it truly is apples and oranges.

They both bring something totally different to the party.

I also know there are Holliday horror stories about her in the show, but I can't help think that everyone that has played Effie after her, owes her just a little. Creating a role the way she did, good, bad, or u

Theatre Board or DVD Games?  Dec 29 2006, 11:43:55 AM
Can anyone recommend a fun board game or DVD game that would be good for a bunch of theatre-heads? Musicals or plays.

Looking for more stuff to do at a New Year's Eve Party for some threatre buddies.

I'm heading out to the mall to see if I find anything, but thought I would check here.

Thanks in advance.

Let me know if I should move this to the Off-Topic Disc. Board.
