DIANA: THE MUSICAL On Netflix - News & Discussion Thread
 Oct 19 2021, 08:15:43 AM

Surely some of the most gobsmackingly bad lyrics in the history of Broadway? Some of the worst songs, the most mind boggling shallow songs and book? It was a good laugh. Not in a good way. Often hilarious. Not intentionally.

Hard to do better than Gypsy... but I do love "Can't stop the beat" from Hairspray.

How about Nowadays from Chicago?

Best Opening Number (In Your Opinion) Since 1997?

Imagine opening this up to best opening number of all time?

Oklahoma "Oh what a beautiful morning".

Sound of Music "Hills are alive with the sound of music".

And if overtures count...

Carousel "The Carousel Waltz"

Phantom of the Opera.

And is there a stronger suite of songs to start a musical ever than Les Miserables?  In tears by the time you get to "I dreamed a dream".

Listening to Dear Evan Hansen a lot at the moment...

Loving "Waving through a window" and "For Forever".  They're on repeat.

Nothing from Hamilton will ever end up on a best all time list in a few years.

What about “Mama who bore me”... Spring Awakening.

Love some of the others mentioned like “Good Morning Baltimore” from Hairspray and “Hello” from Book of Mormon.

It depends on what I’m listening to. Some amazing songs mentioned.  I’m loving “For Forever” from Dear Evan Hansen at the moment. I just keep repeating it.

It was “The Bitch of Living” from Spring Awakening earlier this year.

“Kings of New York” from Newsies a year or so ago.

But then you have classics from Phantom, Les Miserables, Carousel, Oklahoma, Rent, Chicago... too hard!
