Very nice interview. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I'd have to choose A Chorus Line as well.

I also agree with Cabarethed; where's Cabaret?

re: Lyric Question

Yeah, I have the lyrics:

Gordo:
Ponies in the sun
the race is soon beginning
My father bet the family fortune
On a sleek brown horse.
My father had a hunch.
We gave up lunch
So daddy could make a wager.
Ma would scoff
She would scoff, hear her scoff;

And they're off!
Yeah, there off!
And they move in a herd
Like a four-letter word
And they're off
Ticket float
To the ground
And the band starts to play
As the horses go 'round.

re: Harriet Harris Leaving Millie August 3
 Jul 3 2003, 11:44:26 AM
I saw Harriet as Meers last August and she was so good! The night I saw it, she made Sheryl Lee Ralph slightly break character when she said her line, "What'd you do? WALK?!" Sheryl Lee had to turn her back to the audience, but it was clearly visible that she was laughing, since her body was shaking a bit. The show's not going to be the same without Harriet.
re: re: re: re: re: Idina as Amneris
 Jul 3 2003, 11:35:00 AM
I saw Kelli in the tour of Aida and I thought she did a very good job as Amneris. She had the right amount of ditzyness and transformed wonderfully into the more adult and responsible Amneris. She had great comedic timing for her lines as well.

there are more broadway people for the muses of Hercules (from the animated movie):

La Chanze (she was the voice of Terpsichore the Muse of Dance, the frizzy-haired Muse in the short skirt)

Roz Ryan (she was the voice of Thalia the Muse of Comedy, the short, comedic, Muse)

I saw Steven Weber perform "I Wanna Be a Producer" on the 2002 Thanksgiving Day Parade and I thought he was stiff and tired as Leo. When I saw The Producers, it was with Brad Oscar and Jamie LaVerdiere as Max and Leo (Jamie was Steven's understudy). Jamie was very good as Leo; quite timid and shy, but cute, and he played off of the other actors very well.
re: re: re: re: re: What's Your Dream Role?
 Jun 29 2003, 12:24:06 AM
I also agree that I would be happy just being on Broadway, but for dream roles, here's a list of my favorites in no particular order:

Amneris in "Aida"
Irene Roth in "Crazy For You"
Millie in "Thoroughly Modern Millie"
Lilli Vanessi in "Kiss Me Kate"
Mayzie La Bird in "Seussical"
Penny in "Hairspray"
Norma Cassidy in "Victor/Victoria"
The Witch in "Into The Woods"
Ulla in "The Producers"
Annie in "Chicago"
Fraulein "Fritzie" Kost in "Cabaret"
Aldonza in "M

re: re: Different Theatres..................

We have the Memorial Auditorium here in Raleigh, North Carolina. I've seen the tours of Smokey Joe's Cafe, The Secret Garden, Fosse, Swing!, Aida, and Contact performed at this place. I think it's a great theater to see shows in.

I second the idea of the revival of Cabaret being on DVD! It would be an absolutely great idea.
re: re: re: what?

I have never walked out on a show that I've went to. One reason is because the price of the tickets (if I buy tickets, I will go to see the show and stay for the whole thing), another is because going to New York to see a Broadway show is a rare treat for me, so I enjoy what I get to see while I'm there.
re: re: re: My Favorite Broadway: The Leading Ladies
 Jun 27 2003, 11:50:09 PM
I have the DVD of the show, but they still left out the Rosie and Liza segment. I don't know why either.

My favorites from the show were "Everybody's Girl", "I Can Cook Too", and "Life Upon the Wicked Stage", and Dee Hoty singing "Could I Leave You" from Follies.

Oh yes, and when Linda Eder hit that high note in "Man of La Mancha", my jaw hit the ground. Dear sweet Lord, I didn't think anyone could sing that high.

re: re: re: re: re: re: re: What was your first and last show?
 Jun 27 2003, 04:08:47 PM
um, the most I've seen of a show is twice. The show was "Epic Proportions". I usually don't see shows more than once because I live so very far away from NYC so it is very rare that I go to see a show more than once. How I got to see "Epic Proportions" twice was because Kristin Chenoweth was sick the first time I saw it and my dad felt sorry that I missed seeing her.

I would say it's Bob Hope, but I'm not sure.

It's a very nice new look!! I love it as well!

yeah, they should definitely record the original casts of some shows.

Now, I don't want anyone to bite my head off for this, but I can't see Jim Carrey as Mr. Applegate. He just doesn't seem right for the part.
re: re: re: re: What was your first and last show?

If we are counting tours:
First: Smokey Joe's Cafe (sometime in the fall of 1997)
Last: Aida (Nov. 1, 2002)

If we are not counting tours:
First: Chicago (March 1998 )
Last: Into The Woods (August 10, 2002)

I could see Jane Krakowski or Rachel York as Lola. That's my two cents for now.
