Understudy questions..

Don’t get me wrong... he was still impressive! It makes much more sense to me that he only recently started to cover the role. I was surprised the show would put an actor in that position of not being fully prepared!

Mike M.. The understudy was Derrick Cobey... and I don’t think anyone else major was out although my insert seems not to be with my Playbill.

Thank you everyone for all the insight! I appreciate it

It was well handled. The opening line of the second act was an ad libbed “you look different. Good, but different!”... the crowd went wild.

We saw three shows this weekend on our trip to NY, all excellent. I do have a couple of questions!at Kiss Me Kate the understudy for Second Man carried a binder with what appeared to be a scrip in it for one of his numbers... I have not seen this before and just wondered if this is typical.

Today we saw Prom and Barry Glickman and Mr. Hawkins both had understudies in the roles announced in the playbill at the beginning. After intermission it was announced that Emma would be replaced wit

Thank you all for your thoughtful responses, I especially appreciate the consideration given to what may be most impactful for my son as a theatre lover.

Based on the new information and opinions I think I have moved The Prom to the front if we all go to one more show and then maybe I would just take my son to TKAM and Hadestown on our own.

It appears I need both more money and more time!

We are travelling as a family to New York over Easter. My son is 13, a musical theatre, music and theatre lover who both acts and sings and has been in professional productions. Current favorite soundtrack is Six the Musical or Hamilton. We do have tickets to Hamilton. He has seen Dear Evan Hansen and Come From Away, both in NY. Our 16 year old daughter does not really care for theatre. We may decide to divide and conquer but if not we would likely be choosing between the following
