Hello Dolly was based on a pre-existing play. Yank is not. It is exceptionally difficult to create a piece from scratch. It's good they are taking their time.

I'm not sure where you get the notion that all the political commentary was pulled out Dollypop! On the CD there is a 5:41 minute anthem to socialism which essentially takes place of the scene in Shaw's play between the minister and his father-in-law. I went to the text to look. That is the extent of the 'ripe social commentary' in the original. The rest of the play is devoted to the love triangle. The 'endless stretches of dialogue' insofar as I can tell, are straight from the Shaw. There

I both sat in 'obstructed view' seats for the show and then a friend did the same a week later. We were both very happy with our experience. You miss a little of the action center stage but not enough to prove a detriment.

You're welcome April. I too loved Mormon. That's the beauty of art. We all have different tastes and there's plenty of opportunity for us to find the pieces that speak to us. I love Shaw and I think Candida is a masterpiece so I loved seeing it turned into what was for me, an intelligent and adult musical. I'm going to try and get back to see it again in fact. I hope there's a recording.

Me too. I thought it was fantastic. Also thought HOUSE OF BLUE LEAVES was amazing!
