Anyone else find Caroline, Or Change is overrated?
 Jun 12 2011, 01:08:05 AM
I live in Toronto. Not a far trip. Local meaning community production. This isn't small scale but it was small enough.

True it isn't recent but Teisha Duncan was so good I saw it twice. Nothing else in New York was new or good.

No, my director wants suggestions.

When I came down to New York after the tourists left in February 2010 I saw the production in Brooklyn at The Gallery Players.

True. Maybe because of that beautiful performance, I had such high expectations.

I saw the local production twice. The first time was good but had a good actress. The second had a bad actress (understudy) and I saw more flaws with it. I didn't like it at all. I just think a show shouldn't rely so much on one performance. Though it has a lovely score.

Defensive. It's just a show. How am I trying to be cool?

I thought it was one of the best shows of the decade because I saw it recently. Then I went to the same local production with an understudy and it sucked. I just think it isn't as good as it is now made out to be.

First of all, out of country. Second, I don't want to make an unnecessary call. I have other expenses.
Spring Awakening- The Movie
 Jun 12 2011, 12:33:14 AM
If they do it, you know Lea will be in it. Because she wants attention and they want money. Face it she is a box office draw. If they have her, they might use the rest of the original cast. I want a new cast maybe. If they do use the original cast my sister will go wild. She is in love with Jonathan and Lea.

As good as Sutton was. Elmo stole that song. :)
Favorite Movies Adopted from Musicals

I think The Sound Of Music improved a very good show and Mamma Mia was even funner as a movie.
Any news on the On The Twentieth Century revival?

They said it looked like it was gonna happen. Kristin Chenoweth said she would have news in a two weeks. It's been a month yet nothing. Did I miss anything?

Ranking Kander & Ebb Scores
 Jun 10 2011, 07:54:00 AM
I'm sick and bored so I'm going to start this thread.

Best: Cabaret because it's fun
Steel Pier because it's nice ( I listen to it when I read)

Worst: I don't like Zobra.

Worst musical to win best musical?
 Jun 10 2011, 07:41:17 AM
Clearly I think Titanic. I don't even think it should have been nominated. I think Jekyll & Hyde was better. I think score should have gone to Steel Pier ( unpopular opinion but I don't like Titanic's score) and book to The Life. I think Steel Pier should have won Best Musical (clearly) based on the fact it got the best reviews.
Should Candide be revived?

I just found it was said in a rude way. He could have said it nicer. Yes, Kristin admits she gets botox because of her disease that gives her migraines ( not sure if i believe it). That is what she said in her biography. Also, Kad I didn't say anything to you because you said it nicely. You simply said she is too old.
