Thrilling theatre moments/twists
 Jun 6 2013, 04:22:46 AM
Absolutely those final 15 minutes of JERUSALEM. Really the final act made me sob (both times I saw it) from the slow dance through the end of the play, but the end was unbelievable.

**Spoilers**

When he's pounding on the drum and all of a sudden you can hear the wind and start to see the trees move. Then the distant rumbling getting louder and louder and then a black out... Just the ambiguity of whether it was the demolition trucks or he summoned the giants. I had chills!

Scenes You'll Never Forget

Some from this current season...

Jerusalem ->
-Rooster making himself a drink
-The entire section with Rooster and Phaedra (his monologue, the goldfish, the dance) through him re-emerging from the trailer. I cried both times during that part and still can't listen to the song without tearing up.
-The last 10-15 minutes of the play

La Bete ->
-Valere's monologue and Elomiere's (David Hyde Pierce) facial expressions

The Normal Heart ->
-N

Definitely "Overture" - Promises, Promises. It really sets up the style and sound of the show.

I'd also say that "Prelude" - Next to Normal is pretty damn incredible.

Hands Down -> JERUSALEM: The entire production - from the sounds of the forrest when you walk in, to the blackout at the end, and most of all Mark Rylance's stunning performance as Johnny 'Rooster' Byron! Listening to a clip of "Who Knows Where The Time Goes" on iTunes the next day almost brought me to tears.

Also

LA BETE: Again, Mark Rylance and his 30 minute monologue (and the applause that followed). Plus, Elomiere's (David Hyde Pierce) facial expressions, reactions and

Although it would REALLY be Into The Woods, I will abstain and say...

"Bring Him Home" - Les Miserables (The first time one of the 80s "Mega-Musicals" really got me. I'd seen POTO before and loved it, but it didn't affect me the way Les Mis did.)

The 30 Day Musical Theatre Song Challenge - DAY 10
 Apr 23 2011, 01:00:29 AM
"I Think I'm Gonna Like It Here" - Annie (actually, that's the only song I like from the show)
The 30 Day Musical Theatre Song Challenge - DAY 9
 Apr 21 2011, 01:40:05 AM
"Ever After" - Into The Woods

but since I'll probably overuse Into the Woods in these threads

"Goodbye Love" - RENT

The 30 Day Musical Theatre Song Challenge - DAY 8
 Apr 19 2011, 12:57:37 PM
"The Impossible Dream" - Brian Stokes Mitchell (Man of La Mancha)

AND although it's not a stage musical, "Through Heaven's Eyes" from The Prince of Egypt (the first time I'd ever heard his voice and was hooked!)

The 30 Day Musical Theatre Song Challenge - DAY 7
 Apr 18 2011, 02:27:19 PM
"We Do Not Belong Together" - Bernadette Peters (Sunday in the Park With George)

The 30 Day Musical Theatre Song Challenge - DAY 1

"Just A Housewife" is in the newest version of the show (or at least the production that was at Asolo Rep/ The Old Globe)
