I suspect It Shoulda Been You, Living on Love, Doctor Zhivago, and Gigi are possible suspects to post notices tomorrow. Only time will tell!

Tonys: This Year's Full Field of Contenders Apr 22
2015, 05:25:33 PM
I suspect Finding Neverland could still sneak in as a Best Musical nominee, due to Harvey Weinstein's aggressive campaigning. The fact that a tour has already been announced will only intice the voters who are regional theatre owners to nominate the show and give it cache as a Tony-Nominated piece before it travels around.

Part of me hopes that this play's death on Broadway will result in phillypinto's death on this message board...

It seems that Harvey's announced tour plans as a way to drum up Tony support.

LIVING ON LOVE Reviews Apr 20
2015, 09:05:07 PM
Phillypinto: More advertisements for a show is a bad sign. It means that they are putting in more money in hopes of finding an audience, and although NBC New York has some nice pull quotes, these reviews aren't helping. Unless the show somehow gains tons of Tony nominations. It'll be closed by May, let alone June.

New Tony Predictions? Apr 16
2015, 01:02:31 AM
Phillypinto: Don't discredit a show you haven't seen! Just because it doesn't appeal to you does not mean it isn't worthy of awards. You seem rather enthusiastic about some plays (especially Living on Love) but keep in mind that one cannot speak objectively until they have seen the play.

Tony Host 2015 Apr 6
2015, 12:43:46 AM
CBS broadcasts The Late Late Show, so they would probably let him take a week off and would use the show to help gain exposure for him with theatre crowds. It would be a smart move but would be a bit difficult, as his show is based in Los Angeles.

When is Jessie Muellers Final Performance in Beautiful? Sep 1

Not sure of dates, but J. Kelly Nestruck, the Theatre critic for The Globe and Mail has heard a rumour that Jessie Mueller will lead the national tour and that Chillina Kennedy will take over the role on Broadway. https://twitter.com/nestruck/status/506553077592518657

Terrence Mann Pippin? Aug 26
2014, 09:39:30 PM
Terrence was cast on a new Netflix TV series titled "Sense8," so I assume that is why he has not returned to Pippin.

Hedwig's future Aug 21
2014, 11:34:33 PM
Could Joseph Gordon-Levitt be taking over and agreeing to only do 5 shows a week? If someone really famous is signing on, you'd think that they would have an alternate too that could do two shows a week. Is it profitable to only do five shows a week?

Next Show to recoup Jun 9

Has Matilda recouped yet? And are there any other long-running shows that have yet to recoup? I haven't found notices for Rock of Ages either.

Rant about the 2014 TONY NOMINATIONS here Apr 29
2014, 09:43:47 PM
Does anyone else wonder if the producers of BULLETS will be able to persuade Woody Allen to show up to the TONYs? I suppose that if they are desperate for publicity, they may attempt to get him to present, despite him never showing up to the Oscars. Besides, the box office numbers for "Fading Gigolo" prove that his controversy has not affected people's desire to see Woody. It will be interesting to see if they can persuade him to attend or not.

BEST MUSICAL RACE 2014 Apr 24

Is Rocky gaining momentum towards a Best Musical nom? It has gotten respect from the Outer Critics and Drama League, as well as a boost in ticket sales (reached a million dollars this past week).

BEST MUSICAL RACE 2014 Mar 20

Seems to be that Aladdin is doing better box office and is getting better reviews than Rocky! Perhaps Aladdin may be a player, or at least a nominee after all.

No Man's Land/Godot Nov 24

The reviews have been pretty positive for this double bill. NY Times mentioned that due to its excess in humour in this production, both plays lost a bit of their existential meaning.

Breaking News: Lilla Crawford Joins INTO THE WOODS Film as 'Little Red'; Stephen Sondheim Pens New Song Sep 17
2013, 12:29:02 AM
Seth Rudetsky tweeted today: "I'm not saying I got @LILLACRAWFORD the "IntoTheWoods" film but I texted Rob Marshall months ago that she's amazing." This makes it seem that Lilla auditioned for this film months ago and they chose Sophia Grace over her. That's so bizarre to cast a young pop star with no acting credentials and that's the wrong age over a properly trained Broadway actress. I don't think Sophia Grace would be a box office draw or attract the intended target audience.
