Updates to my Multimedia List
 May 7 2006, 02:14:46 PM
Hi all...I know I always say this, but I really should come here more often.

At my Multimedia Links - TV/Videos list , there are a number of new entries, including the missing first interview with Colin Bates on CBBC (pictured) and even some TV alerts this week surrounding the one-year anniversary, including:

PAUL O'GRADY (Tuesday at 5:00 pm on Channel 4) with Elton John to discuss the success of BETM
GMTV (Thursday at 6:58 am on ITV1) with Liam Mower

To see the latest version of the list, please visit:
http://billyelliotthemusical.me.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=776

As well, if anyone is interested, I have extra front row seats for June 1 evening and a second row centre seat for June 3 matinee.

Hi all,

Sorry I haven't been here for awhile.

For those that are new, I welcome you to visit my Multimedia Updates list showing all the known Billy Elliot video and audio clips available on the Internet.

There you will find clips such as the Colin Bates interviews on CBBC last Monday (pictured above).

I also have a shorter version of my list at http://www.billyelliotfans.com, but the whole site is down right now so I don't have the exact address.

If you only plan to watch one clip, I highly recommend this newly-discovered promotional piece from Theatre.com called STREET CRITIC:

PS. Although I would dearly love to go to the May 12 Gala, I'm already booked in for June 3 (highly speculated to be Liam's final performance). I think there will be nearly 100 people fom the fan sites, including at least five of us from North America who are flying over specifically for the big night. Check out Yam's seating chart and look for me in Stalls C24-25.

Independent Online: An audience with the Billy Elliot boys

Great article, with topics that include the reason Liam Mower left the Royal Ballet School, being homsick, leaving the show and how Sharon Osbourne and Liz Hurley let the boys squeeze their breasts at Elton John's wedding.

Liam Shows
 Jan 28 2006, 04:37:03 AM
Lois,

You can phone the box office, and they can tell you who is scheduled for the upcoming week, but they can't guarantee.
0870 895 5577

From what I hear, Liam performs more often than the other Billys at the Thursday matinees (that's when I saw him).

As well, you can join Tzwicky, Jeff, myself and a bunch of others on the evening of June 3 since that is rumoured to be Liam's final performance. Here is the seating chart:

Canadian Politics
 Jan 28 2006, 04:24:39 AM
Hey tzwicky,

Canada only voted in the Tories on a "temporary" basis. They got 39% of the vote (61% of the country voted for left-leaning parties), and that was only to punish a government that had become complacent (and a little corrupt) after being in power for almost 13 years.

In Canada we have a saying: "We elect the Tories every 20 years to remind us why we have a Liberal government the rest of the time".

The election was only a few days ago, but even now, people

6 TV Appearances in 6 Days

6 TV Appearances in 6 Days
 Jan 22 2006, 03:06:24 AM
Since last Monday, there have been no less than 6 TV appearances on BBC featuring all 5 of the original Billys (Liam Mover x2, George Maguire, James Lomas, Leon Cooke and Travis Yates), many focussing on Wednesday's nominations for Britain's Laurence Olivier Awards.

Through the dedication and talent of a number of people, I have managed to compile all 6, which was no easy feat since some of the news stories were only shown in certain regions of the country and I myself live in a different hemisphere. There is also a 7th - a new compilation video by Loopylucyloo showing memorable moments from many of the videos over the last 8 months. Video clips in different formats all now appear on the first page of the Multimedia Links - Videos thread of the BETM Fansite Forum:

http://billyelliotthemusical.me.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?

* VIDEO MONTAGE (January 21, 2006 featuring all Billys)
* STUPID EPISODE 3 (January 20, 2006 featuring Travis)
* NEWSROUND (January 19, 2006 featuring Leon with Liam)
* LOOK NORTH (January 18, 2006 featuring James with Ashley)
* BBC LONDON NEWS (January 18, 2006 featuring Liam)
* BREAKFAST (January 18, 2006 featuring George with Liam-Haydn)
* BLUE PETER (January 16, 2006 featuring Liam-Ryan)

I want to pay my special and sincere gratitude to a number of "heroes" this week, some of whom I probably drive crazy with all my requests:
* Dekky for sending me BLUE PETER
* Lin for BREAKFAST and BLUE PETER, and for maintaining both the Fansite Forum and the Members Only section
* Loopylucyloo for her fun and creative COMPLIATION VIDEO
* Quantum for sending me high quality versions of BBC LONDON NEWS and LOOK NORTH, a regional news programme that I was convinced I would never find.
* Remi for sending me .rm and .wvm versions (edited as requested) of BBC LONDON NEWS and the hard-to-find NEWSROUND
* Yoyo for sending me BLUE PETER and my weekly dose of STUPID
* Everyone who posted TV alerts or links to BBC's RealPlayer listings
* BBC, the BETM producers and the boys themselves for making these TV appearances happen.

I have also taken this snowy Saturday evening to make some improvements to the page:
* A number of new Putfile versions for those that prefer streaming video
* Various links for each clip now in alphabetical order
* Some technical advice on video formats near the top
* Thank you's now near the top of the page instead of the bottom, since this resource would not be possible without the people who record, digitize and send me the clips. I only compile them all in one place and add a short description.

Thanks as well to all of you who have sent me kind words about the multimedia list on the board, in PMs and e-mails over the last few months. Every time we watch these historic clips (some over and over again), it conjures up powerful memories of this incredible musical for those that have seen it, while at the same time promoting BETM to those who have not yet had the pleasure.

George on BBC BREAKFAST

For those that missed it, I have a (password-only) link to George Maguire being interviewed about the Olivier Awards on BBC BREAKFAST this morning.
http://billyelliotthemusical.me.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=58

With today's nominations and the fact they showed an actual scene with Liam and Haydn, I consider this one of the most important Billy videos yet.

While you all sleep, I'm thrilled by the announcement about all the nominations for this year's Sir Laurence Olivier Awards, including a collective nomination for Best Actor in a Musical for George, James and Liam.

Although BILLY ELLIOT THE MUSICAL and its stars have been nominated and won several awards in the past, this nomination is the most prestigious. Here are the nominations

BEST PERFORMANCE IN A SUPPORTING ROLE - Tim Healy
BEST DIRECTOR - Stephen Daldry

At 13, Liam is is the youngest nominee in the 30-year history of the awards.

Blue Peter
 Jan 17 2006, 11:22:13 PM
I now have non-password versions of BLUE PETER (both playable in Putfile and downloadable in Savefile) on my Multimedia List (thanks again to my friends Dekky and Yoyo who sent me both video clips and screencaps):
http://www.billyelliotthemusical.me.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=58

It includes scenes not shown in the previous password version, including the boys stretching (and imitating the presenter) before their dance and the final good-byes (with an extremely surly lady holding a cat).

PS. What was the deal with the lady and her cat. When she said to the presenter "Touch me again and I'll kill you", he genuinely looked scared. I then got worried for poor Liam who was sitting right next to her.

Blue Peter Update
 Jan 15 2006, 12:26:36 PM
Update:

Rumour has it that Liam and Ryan will only be performing "Expressing yourself" on the extended version of BLUE PETER on CBBC, not on the shorter version on BBC1.

Both versions start at 17:00 on Monday, January 16.

Vote for Best TV Clips
 Jan 3 2006, 11:56:28 AM
Just a reminder that voting will end tonight for the poll on Your Favourite TV Appearance of 2005:

http://billyelliotthemusical.me.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=58

I first weighed in with my thoughts the other day, but if you haven't voted (or even if you have), you may want to watch one these three remarkable video clips found at the link above:

CHILDREN IN NEED
(November 18, 2005 VIDEO featuring Liam)
Of all the video clips, this stunning live performance by Liam is the one that affects me the most emotionally because it makes me feel like I'm back at the Victoria Palace watching the show. Liam's singing, as well as his leaps and pirouette, are amazing, and in the post-performance interview, we get to see him in a natural and apparently unrehearsed way.

BLUE PETER
(December 9, 2005 VIDEO with featuring Leon)
I think this is one of the most entertaining TV clips that follows a day in the life new Billy actor Leon Cooke. Not only do we get to know Leon better, including clips from his original audition, I think we get to learn more about all the children in the show with rare footage inside the Billy House, at rehearsals and backstage.

BILLY ELLIOT DIARIES
(May 9, 2005 VIDEO featuring George-James-Liam)
As one of the longest clips, this is probably the most informative. There are so many memorable moments in this documentary, including interviews with the original 3 Billy actors and their parents, as well as glimpses of their home and their hometowns. It finishes with their spectacular first public apperance with Sir Elton at the Royal Variety Performance.
I'm not sure why TODAY WITH DES AND MEL has done so well in the voting. Perhaps it was the most recent in many people minds when the voting began. I found it to be a standard interview, not unlike the appearance on GMTV the week before, where we not only learn little about the boys or the show, viewers are given the false impression that there are still only 3 Billys (including George and James).

If you haven't already, please vote.

OCR
 Dec 24 2005, 08:28:10 PM
tzwicky,

Hard for me to comment on the OCR. I've only had it for a day, so I've only listened to it 12 times.

I'm hoping that if I listen enough times, I'll desensitize myself so I can listen without crying (especially during STARS LOOK DOWN and the LETTERS). Until then, I'm not putting it on my Ipod because I can't listen in public.

In any case...off to do family Christmas stuff...Seasons greetings to all.

My OCR Finally Arrived
 Dec 23 2005, 03:16:31 PM
Well, after a couple calls and e-mails to Amazon UK (considering I placed my order in early November and after everything I've done to promote them as the best shipping method to North America), my box set FINALLY arrived today.

Turns out it was held up in Canada Customs (who then charged me $10 tax and duty). I was convinced I wouldn't get it until after Christmas.

When I left the post office, I stuck it in the CD player. Not a good idea. As soon as "Stars Look Down",
