BE Wins Evening Standard Theatre Award!
 Nov 28 2005, 10:29:13 AM
Billy Elliot has today been crowned Best Musical at a major theatrical awards event.

The tale of the boy from the back streets who danced his way to the Royal Ballet capped a critically and commercially successful first year in the West End by winning favour with Evening Standard Theatre Award judges.

Sir Elton John was at today's star-studded ceremony at the Savoy Hotel in central London to watch his show beat rivals Mary Poppins and The Big Life for the title.

By my reckoning Billy has solo bits in these songs

"The Stars Look Down"
"Expressing Yourself"
"The Letter"
"Deep Into the Ground"
"Electricity"
"The Letter"

How many times have you seen the show

Sorry to confuse everyone with my reference to Bryan's law- I was just referring to his previous message!

It seems that the cast seem to pop in to the Stage Door pub very briefly after most evening performances- all my friends who've seen the show and myself have seen them (which probably says plenty about our drinking habits!)

I've seen the show 3 times (George + Brad + Gillian Fitzpatrick, Leon + Joey, James + Brad). I'm going again next week AND on 3rd. Can't wait!

Third Version of CD on Amazon?
 Nov 21 2005, 08:12:34 AM
At the risk of inflating the CD cover debate, I'm not sure that the picture referred to as George is actually him- I think it was being used way back before the casting for the show was even announced. I think it might be a model hired to do the publicity shots. I'm prepared to be told I'm wrong though!
Children In Need - Billy?

3 Billys or 4 Billys? Interesting discussion!

Personally I agree with Be Inspired that it's easy to get too worked up about the age of the lead. It was definitely a different show when I saw it with 'James Mark Two' but no worse for that. And a bit more exposure can't do him anything but good I'd have thought (and s*d the GCSEs)! It will be interesting to see what happens after Christmas- it certainly looks like logistically 4 Billys are better than 3! The question is, can the Billy Aca
