MOTOWN Reviews  Apr 14 2013, 10:14:27 PM
A nit pick: On what planet is the Beatles' "Money (That's What I Want)" the best known version?
Too Soon For A NOISES OFF Revival?  Feb 21 2013, 04:13:23 PM
So I see that Jane Curtin played Dottie after Patti. Did anyone see her? I ask because I'm having a hard time seeing her in the role.
Too Soon For A NOISES OFF Revival?  Feb 20 2013, 04:36:08 PM
I love the show, and would definitely enjoy a revival. Jordan's suggestion of Jan Maxwell is a good one.

And I've never quite gotten why the film has such a bad reputation -- do people think Bogdanovich isn't that good of a comedy director? I'll be controversial and say What's Up, Doc? is less funnier than Noises Off.

Jason Reitman to stage all-female reading of GLENGARRY with Janney, O'Hara, Whitman, Bello & Wright  Feb 15 2013, 04:18:34 PM
I'm actually really excited about Catherine O'Hara doing this.
MAGIC MIKE Will Be Coming On Broadway  Feb 3 2013, 06:46:52 PM
Put me down as for this. I'm not so thrilled about a film being adapted to Broadway so soon, but on the other hand, this show could be a hell of a starmaker for many young men. I'd also like it to be a bit more fun than the actual film (one of the best desciptions I've heard of it was a more downbeat Saturday Night Fever).
SPECULATION thread -- the four vacant theaters  Jan 31 2013, 09:19:19 PM
We're now down to seven:

Belasco
Longacre
Rodgers
Simon
St. James
Studio 54*
New Amsterdam

* = Could conceivably extend

I know Big Fish and the Les Miz tour are slated for the Simon and New Amsterdam, but I wondered if either were getting short-term tenants. Also, is The Miss Firecracker Contest still on? I seem to recall it being a Shubert production.

Victor Garber Confirms: Yep, He's Gay  Jan 14 2013, 08:20:58 PM
Yay!
Confirmed! Julia Roberts & Mark Ruffalo to Star in THE NORMAL HEART for HBO; Directed by Ryan Murphy for 2014  Jan 4 2013, 09:23:17 PM
Count me as cautiously optimistic. I like American Horror Story and (parts of) Glee, but never saw Running With Scissors or Eat, Pray, Love.
BREAKING NEWS: REBECCA Still Hoping to Make it to Broadway in 2013?  Jan 2 2013, 05:02:44 PM
This has gone from "potential Forbidden Broadway sketch" to just plain sad.
Norm Lewis may need a new agent  Dec 30 2012, 01:42:25 PM
Any kind of career advancement (I'm assuming this commercial will be seen by more people than the average viewers of Scandal and everyone who saw Porgy and Bess -- not snotty, just numbers) is good.
DEAD ACCOUNTS to Close on Broadway on January 6  Dec 27 2012, 09:25:33 PM
From your voice to God's ears, little_sally.
DEAD ACCOUNTS to Close on Broadway on January 6  Dec 27 2012, 07:54:29 PM
Agreed, Jordan.
Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 12/16/12  Dec 17 2012, 05:12:56 PM
I repeat what I said last week -- I really think Dead Accounts is the next to go.
SPECULATION thread -- the four vacant theaters  Dec 12 2012, 04:28:24 PM
Bumping this thread for late winter/spring of 2013. Assuming Breakfast at Tiffany's does take the Cort, by my count, there are 11 theaters with nothing lined up for then:

Barrymore
Belasco*
Booth*
Golden
Longacre
Music Box*
Marquis*
Simon
Kerr*
St. James
Studio 54*

* = current production could conceivably extend

Let the speculation begin.

Lost in Yonkers  Dec 11 2012, 09:35:36 PM
I approve of the idea of a revival, and Jon Hamm as Louie. Not sure who else I'd cast.
Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 12/9/12  Dec 10 2012, 04:07:20 PM
I'm thinking Dead Accounts will be the next to go. Hope it won't scare Katie away for good.
Worst Show of 2012?  Nov 29 2012, 07:10:52 PM
Leap of Faith.
THE MYSTERY OF EDWIN DROOD is getting a cast recording  Nov 28 2012, 08:37:05 PM
Crosses fingers that PS Classics does the recording.
Jeremy Renner for Memphis film Please!!!!  Nov 18 2012, 09:00:46 AM
Good voice, but not a sketch comedy performer.
THE MYSTERY OF EDWIN DROOD Reviews  Nov 14 2012, 04:25:21 AM
And, on that note, I've always wondered how Brantley & Isherwood make their decisions on reviews. I assume Brantley gets first dibs on everything, but I'd love to be wrong. I'm quite positive it's not both men's editor arbitraily picking the assignments.
