Roles they DIDN'T get....
 May 19 2011, 01:11:25 PM
I remember reading in the newspaper back in the early 1980's that Ann Reinking had the lead role in the Broadway version of Cats. I'm not sure if they were talking about Grizabella.

And speaking of Cats, how can we forget that Dame Judi Dench was the original Grizabella in the London version until she broke her foot or ankle (?).

I also remember reading that in the mid-1980's a rock musical movie version of Oliver Twist was being planned with Tina Turner as Fagin and Madonna

Oh no! This is so sad - I love this store. Are we coming now to a time where we are going to say, "Remember going to a bookstore? Remember going to a record store?"

Right after I graduated from college, I did telemarketing for the Roundabout Theatre Company while I was job hunting. Through the job, I received free tickets for "Privates on Parade". This would have been in the Fall of 1989. I took my sister.

Well, much to my surprise, there was a full-frontal nude shower scene with four or five men. I was a big fan of the late Olympic gold medalist in skating, John Curry. I really did not want to see him naked. Neither did my sister. I was ve

re: Revival Cast Recordings Worth Buying.
 May 10 2006, 03:26:58 PM
Sorry - here is one revival NOT worth buying. I recently purchased the 1991 London Palladium Revival Cast of "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" with Jason Donovan and Linzi Hatley. After listening to it straight through, my first reaction was - "This recording has completely destroyed every note of the show!" Hatley's version of the Narrator is an abomination compared to Laurie Beechman in the 1982 Broadway Cast with Bill Hutton. And the orchestrations in this 1991 version (which

Back in 1985, I saw an off-Broadway musical called "Surf City: The Beach Boys Musical" which was horrible. It closed during previews - I was not surprised!
