re: The 62nd Tony Awards Megathread

Not surprised, but super congrats. You know they'll be going crazy on myspace later, with their status in all caps and such :)

What a great Tony telecast, seriously. One of the best in years, I think. Props to Whoopi too. She did great.

PATTIIIII.....!

28 years ago... wow. I seriously adore this woman.

Although I couldn't really tell, Stew's reaction to not winning was funny :)

Congrats to SP for an amazing night!

That was EXTREMELY beautiful, but I'm not gonna lie I was hoping for something more...
But it was still very nice.

....Best Musical time soon!

This is supremely moving.

On a lighter note, I hope they all perform together.

I'm still confused about the existence of the Baldwin brothers... Definitely not a bonus IMO.

I'm getting pretty antsy for Rent.

GET OUTA HERE CHEYENNE JACKSON!

No, but seriously, he's gorgeous. He can stay as long as he wants. And bring all the brownies he wants.

That's really nice that Glenn got to present to South Pacific :) Congrats to them.

Kinda was hoping for Sunday... but seriously just happy it wasn't Grease. Not that I thought it would be.

Definitely was waiting for that SA bit for a while. I'm loving this telecast like whoa.

Almost at the end....!

"As if by magic."

Brilliance.

I love me some Daniel Radcliffe :)

re: Broadway performers who smoke

I think the fact that it's a stimulant eases the anxiety because it makes the user feel more confident and happy, thus easing anxious feelings and even, perhaps, relaxing them. If only because they feel more confident.

Crap, I'm too late for the [title of show] jokes....
re: Kristen Bell as Elle Woods?
 Jul 25 2007, 10:52:30 PM
Kristen as Elle would be the one thing that would get me to see Legally Blonde. I mean, it's good music, but the show itself just doesn't draw me that much... But with Kristen, I would give anything to see it. That girl is the personification of triple threat. I believe she was in a production of Fosse, if I'm not mistaken.
re: If you could play one character...
 Jul 20 2007, 01:11:41 AM
So many... ^_^

Beth or Jo - Little Women
Peter Pan - Peter Pan (already played it, but would kill to do it again)
Kathy - L5Y
Reno Sweeney - Anything Goes
Yonah - Children of Eden
Narrator - Joseph
Lucy - Jekyll/Hyde
Eponine - Les Miz
Heidi - [title of show]

Pretty usual, I guess, lol.

SAVE VERONICA MARS?
 Jul 9 2007, 02:41:40 PM
So... what's this I hear about a Veronica Mar's Season 3 out on DVD October 23rd? True?

I loved Flight of the Conchords before, now I adore them.

EDIT: I was gonna put a clever FotC quote, but then realized I couldn't pick just one...

I've heard a couple broadway tunes in my theater over the years, but none recently.

Love the avatar, Tink. Simply adore it.

re: Your feelings about 'A Year With Frog and Toad'
 Jul 7 2007, 12:35:42 PM
My school performed "Getta Loada Toad (Toad Looks Funny in a Bathing Suit)" at competition a couple years back and it was by far one of the best numbers I've ever had the privilege of performing at competition, and I've done my fair share. The audience reactions are priceless and inspiring. I would love to do this show, if only to see Snail deliver that letter every show

I’m the snail with the mail
I’ll deliver without fail
In the rain or sleet or snow
No snail has feet more fleet-ah
Why, I’m practically a cheetah!
I put the ‘go’ in ‘escargot’!

re: Who is taking over for Julia and Kendra in October when they leave Wick
 Jul 6 2007, 03:39:16 PM
I honestly don't know where my mind was. I was probably reading something else at the same time. I didn't mean to say raise ticket prices, that's silly. I meant that it wouldn't increase the popularity. Not many average people will say, "Lea is playing Elphaba!" and rush to the box office to secure tickets. And for every average person that for some reason does do that, there will be a BWWer right by their side who will quickly talk them out of it

The video of "Mama Who Bore Me" from the Drama Desks shows that Lea definitely has a range, even if she's flat most of the song. I personally am not for it at all. I also don't think it will raise ticket prices... She wasn't nominated for the Tony, few people will remember her, I think, from her stints in Ragtime, etc, and only theater people (meaning us) will truly know her, and even then, you can see just from this thread who's a fan and who's not.
