Dragged my college bf to see this at the Public theatre (newman theatre, I think), in 1975. It was adv. in the NYT and, at that time, me and my friends had a contest to see how many off bway shows we could see in a yr. The place was packed, and 20 minutes in, the audience was stunned, and in a good way. We all went out for drinks after, on St Mark's place, and couldn't believe what we had just seen. It was THAT different. Who knew? 38 yrs later?

Yes, Hourglass Tavern, Dafni's (42nd), Pio Pio (10th ave), Nizza (9th), Gazala place (9th ave), Tabata Ramen (9th ave), Jing (9th), 5 napkin Burger (9th), 44 x 10 (10th ave) Capizzi (best pizza ever, my secret joint behind the Port Authority), Tavola, new, very good trattoria (37-38th/9th). Very cozy. Also, great pizza. All good neighborhood places. And cheap to reasonable prices. I've live around here and have been to all of them. Make reservations for dinner, though, just in case. Avo

Truckload 1975 Lyceum. Dec 29

I worked as an usher at this show, and boy was it bad. I do remember getting the note that it would close during previews. I don't hardly remember it, except for the humongous ugly, day- glo truck (piece of scenery). Back in the mid 70s there was a CB RADIO/TRUCK craze for a coupla yrs. There were also TV shows, movies, etc. all this this stupid CB Radio crap. It was really ridiculous. I still have the playbill somewhere.

SHUBERT THEATRE Balcony and Bernard B. Jacobs rear mezz Dec 21
2012, 01:46:57 AM
yes and yes, but the shubert balc is on the 3rd level, much higher than the rear mezz of the jacobs, which is only 2 levels. mezz in the jacobs is split by front mezz, aisle, rear mezz. depends on how picky you are.
