CASA VALENTINA is fresh, delicate...finely drawn. Doesn't stumble around like ATW does.

Do we really need yet ANOTHER production of this dreary, depressing play?
Let's go back to the NY Times review of the 2004 production, and I quote..."the uneasy realization that Ms. Norman's Pulitzer Prize-winning drama, which opened in revival last night under the direction of Michael Mayer, is looking more artificial than it did two decades ago." They definitely cast actors the director was comfortable with. I went through the audition process...and let's just put it this way, they were very transparent if you didn't fit what they were looking for. Not harsh, though. But look at who they cast, people who would agree to a 1 year production contract and not names or stars to common theatre folk but known actors from their casting "lists" who they have all worked with before. My vote is to put her in a sitcom, Hilty is great at that stuff. McPhee is too bland, she's gotta kick it up a notch. A movie career would be best for her, that is, if the movies want her.

Mind you, I agree with most on here, they really went the wrong way with this show. I would have preferred something grounded in a bit more reality. Spielberg said the series was "to be an absolutely authentic depiction of an arcane world".....oh well, they went in the totally wrong direction.

Ok, you have been warned.....
I heard an interview with Jeremy Jordan. Apparently a major character dies by season's end...my guess it will be Krysta Rodriguez (Ana Vargas / The Diva)...especially seeing how last night's episode ended. Jeremy would be the obvious choice but hey, it would be more tragic if it were her, no?
