For anyone interested in the Janis show, there's a similar one playing Off-Broadway at 54th and 8th for two more nights. It's a one-woman show of a performer and pioneering theatre coach that was inspired by Janis Joplin and lives/teaches rock music. I'm working on it and I watch her every night, and she's got that same limitless raw energy that Janis has. It's only $18, next two nights at 7:30, so if you're waiting for affordable tix to Janis, this is a great night. Similar structure of using a concert to span a personal story and the influences of rock music, and if you're a performer, she shares great info on how she understands/teaches rock music to theater peeps (and coaches people live at one point). She's pretty amazing and it's a unique show- check her out.
