I agree completely with what Smart Penguin said. OrangeSkittles, I can see where you are coming from with your reply. I can definitely see the frusteration that comes from having a small, genuine fan community and then having it over-run by people not interested in the same level or type of discussion and appreciation. That I can give you 100%. What bothers me when this comes up is the implied level of elitism and the concern for APPEARING elite. Yeah, the mindless sqealing

You know, I hear people mention this about all sorts of stuff when it gets turned into a feature film. I'm brand new to posting here, so maybe I should bite my tongue, but this sort of grates on me. What exactly is the problem with kids supporting this material, I wonder? Are you duty-bound to invite everyone in a Sweeney shirt over to your house for cocktails? Doesn't anyone just like something because they like it? Does it only count if you get to feel elite? I pretty much like Sw

I'll throw in a little love as well. I planned a trip to see this show and was already fully expecting to love it. I was still stunned by how powerful the experience was for me. I find it difficult to describe to people (or to articulate here!) exactly what made this production astonishing for me, but I hope that the cast and crew and creative team for this show have some sense of how rich and breathtaking this show is for the audience. I am grateful to have seen it.

re: Can someone explain Patti LuPone? Aug 22

It seems like everyone tends to be hot or cold on Patti LuPone, and I'd imagine that is because she's very distinctive. Her voice is unusual, she's not a traditional beauty, she's very brassy and outspoken and funny. I'm crazy about her. I LOVE her voice and could listen to her sing all day. Her acting and interpretations always impress me, and I think she is hysterical to boot. That being said, I can almost understand someone disliking her for very similiar reasons. She's atypical, a

re: For Those (Americans) Who Want The New Evita Recording Aug 21

I know that people are wondering about an actual US release, but I am in the US and ordering through amazon.co.uk was very painless. I used my regular account and credit card, the entire transaction with conversion rate and shipping only came to something like $20.60, and the CD arrived in about a week. VERY quick, easy and reasonable.

I just got mine today too. Still getting used to it before I make a judgement. I assumed a lot was cut down for space on the disk, although CatsNY says there is ten minutes remaining? Still, I'd assume things were simply decided against for time. Elphaba, I love that part. I missed it too.

re: Sweeney Todd; Filming starts Feb. 5th Aug 16

(Hi guys, I'm new, though I've been a lurker for quite a long time. I didn't do an intro thread because, really, who reads those? But hello. Hope it's alright if I just jump in.) I really agree with the sentiments Margo expressed. On the whole, you CAN'T translate something directly from stage to screen. I'd rather have a strong film in the movie theaters and strong productions on stages. I'd rather see something that stays true to the tone and intent of the piece but creates a strong,
