Congratulations Las Vegas! The Smith Center Opens  Mar 11 2012, 11:42:21 AM
I am beyond thrilled that Las Vegas finally got the performing arts center it deserves. There was a huge opening gala for it last night hosted by neil patrick harris with celebrities ranging from carol king to jennifer hudson. It was even filmed for pbs. Finally touring shows will start coming back to las vegas, as well as dance troupes and various entertainers. I already have my tickets for mary poppins in May. Here is hoping that this center transforms downtown to vegas into something really amazing. Check it out.

Bernadette, GYPSY, and Rose's Turn  Jun 4 2011, 12:07:10 PM
I saw Bernadette in Gypsy, the night before she actually took those 2 weeks off, so vocally, she really didn't sound that great. That being said, she commanded that stage.

One part that distincly comes to memory is the scene when she tells the Manager of the burlesque house that "My daughter can do it". At the moment, you heard the audience gasp, whic I've only heard once before in a theater. That's how effective at being relentless she was.

And the scenes with baby june on th

Into the Woods Revival? Anytime Soon?  Jun 4 2011, 12:01:06 PM
I would agree with a revival of Into the Woods, since there's been a huge resurgance of sondheim shows in the past 5 years on broadway.

I will always have a softspot for this show, as the original production was the first broadway show I ever saw, and what got me hooked on theater. I did see the revival and I actually enjoyed it. I found it fascinating how in the revival the focus did shift to cinderella's story. I actually did care about her and the prince's marriage. I absolutley love

Denis O'Hare news report on true blood last night  Aug 16 2010, 10:12:01 AM
In what I believe has been a so-so season of true blood thus far was brought to amazing levels last night with Denis O'Hare's Russell doing a speech of epic proportions. This was by the far the best scene of the episode and of this season. His speech about true vampires and the human race was amazing and not "spineless". And ended with one of the biggest laughs of the season. If he does not get an emmy nod next year there really is no justice.
