It’s that time of the year again, so, on my blog JORGE’S PLACE, I’ve just posted my awards regarding Musical cast recordings and movie/television soundtracks that were released in 2023.

Here is the link and you know I don’t mind if you crucify me for my choices: https://themusicalchronicles.blogspot.com/2024/01/cast-recordings-of-2023-personal-look.html

BROADWAY SEASON 2022-2023 – THE MUSICALS  Jul 19 2023, 03:00:55 PM

On my blog JORGE’S PLACE I’ve just posted a page with images from all the musicals, new ones and revivals, which opened on Broadway during the 2022-2023 Season. Plus the City Center Encores! series. Some became hits, others closed in a few weeks, but I believe all of them are worthy of celebration.

Yes! I'm proud and shameless!

THE LITTLE MERMAID – Broadway 2009  Jun 6 2023, 03:40:49 AM

I know the difference between a revue and a review, it was a stupid mistake. Thanks for noticing it!

THE LITTLE MERMAID – Broadway 2009  Jun 5 2023, 02:14:27 PM

Now that the live action remake of the animated classic THE LITTLE MERMAID has opened, it seems a good time to remember the Broadway production that I saw in 2009 and to share images of the souvenir brochure.

CAST RECORDINGS OF 2022: A PERSONAL LOOK  Jan 18 2023, 02:17:32 PM

Unfortunately, I live in Lisbon (Portugal) and I haven't seen any of the shows. I only listened to the cast recordings and for me the new ITW didn't bring anything new to the score. I still prefer the Original London Cast recording with Julia McKenzie.

SOME LIKE IT HOT – London 1992  Oct 30 2022, 09:09:35 AM

Now that a new musical adaptation of the fabulous movie comedy SOME LIKE IT HOT is about to open on Broadway, seems the right time for me to remember the London production of 1992 starring Tommy Steele.

You can read about it and see images on my blog “Jorge’s Place” - https://themusicalchronicles.blogspot.com/2022/10/some-like-it-hot-london-1992.html

THE PROM – A Personal Opinion  Dec 13 2020, 02:16:41 PM

I’m not saying this is a great movie musical, but it’s a highly enjoyable one, the kind that makes us want to dance and puts a smile on our hearts! The world needs more musicals like this!

ALADDIN - A Movie Review  May 26 2019, 02:04:55 PM

I believe that, like me, fans of the original will have a good time seeing it, but keep in mind this isn’t as good as that one and how could it be? So, keep an open mind and enjoy the magic of it!

CAST RECORDINGS OF 2018: A PERSONAL LOOK  Feb 3 2019, 03:12:29 PM

"I’m not disagreeing with you, just curious what you mean."

I meant that I was expecting something more entertaining, with at least a couple of songs that would stand on their own. It was a close race between PRETTY WOMAN and FROZEN.

CAST RECORDINGS OF 2018: A PERSONAL LOOK  Feb 2 2019, 10:42:32 AM

MARY POPPINS RETURNS – A Movie Review  Dec 24 2018, 02:31:38 PM

This is one of the best movies I saw this year! Don’t miss it and let Mary Poppins magic live in you; it’s good to be a child again!

You can read my review and see posters/images of the show at: https://themusicalchronicles.blogspot.com/2018/12/mary-poppins-returns-movie-review.html

COMPANY – London 1995: A Theatre Review  Oct 26 2018, 01:55:46 PM

Now that a new production of COMPANY opened in London, it’s time for me to revisit the 1995 Donmar Warehouse production. I was lucky to saw it twice; first at the Donmar and, a few months later, at the Albery Theatre for where it was transferred. I love it both times and, on my blog JORGE’S PLACE, I’m sharing the “review” I wrote back in 1995. I was 31 years old at the time… how time flies!

You can read my review and see posters/images of the movie at: https://themusicalchronicles.blogspot.com/2018/10/company-london-1995-theatre-review.html
