Right? My thoughts exactly. With Concierge constantly starting every thread on the main board and  the nutjobs taking over the OT board I don't even enjoy coming to the boards anymore... I can get my theater news from playbill.com

The SDCF Masters of the Stage podcast has some great episodes with Directors. Anne Bogart moderates a lot of them.

Getting quickly from Winter Garden to Public theatre? Best route?
 Apr 30 2017, 02:04:17 PM

It's definitely doable if luck is on your side. I'd listen to Kad and the R to 8th is probably the best. I had a similar issue when I was working at the Public. I was in rehearsal for a show at the Public and had won the lottery to Fun Hom at Circle in the Square and had 15 minutes to get from one to the other and made it with a minute I spare. However, I wouldn't have tried if I knew that days performance started at 7 and I would need to book it to make the show!

Eponine Cast as a Guy!

It would not (likely) be a sanctioned change and therefore go against their rights and royalties agreement.  It also must be the school edition, as the full version is not available for production.  This means that the entire cast must be 18 or younger.  (which might still be the case here, but seems unlikely)

Who was the best understudy you have ever seen?
 Mar 18 2017, 10:12:23 PM

Two of the best understudies I ever saw were both in Twyla Tharp productions. Makes sense.... understudies and swings in a Tharp show have to be ridiculous to handle multiple tracks. The first being John Selya's understudy in Movin' Out. I can't for the life of me remember his name, but he was a revelation. I don't think he was the alternate because I believe Rasta Thomas was at the time, but I could be wrong...  The other, was Keith Richardson's understudy in Com

Broadway Actors who went to your school.
 Feb 14 2017, 06:06:11 PM

I went to middle/high school with Laurie Veldheer. I grew up training at the same studio and performing with Laurie, Mikey Winslow, Johnny Stellard, Joe Carroll (all three of those guys went to the same High School...) and Kate Reinders, to name a few.... lol My hometown definitely breeds a sh*t ton of talent with exceptional teachers and performing arts opportunities.

College.... too many to name. A couple chorus gypsies, an SNL star, and few

Actors Freaking Out on Stage
 Jan 22 2017, 07:15:14 PM

This isn't really an "actor freaking out" example, but the first thing that came to my mind (besides the Toni Collette incident already mentioned) was when Christian Slater played Tom in The Glass Menagerie opposite Jessica Lange and during the bra stuffing scene he ran on stage saying something like "I gotta get in on this" and started making inappropriate gestures towards Laura.  But I'm sure the actors had a major freak out towards him backstage.

RENT Plot Holes

Mister Matt said: "Rent isn't set in 1996, it's set in 1989. Big difference.

If you're talking about the bone-headed film adaptation, then yes, it created all kinds plot holes that didn't exist in the original stage production, which was not set in 1989."

That always bugged me in the film. Like was Angel psychic for knowing he outcome to Thelma and Louise when the film wasn't released for another 2

First Musical you ever saw?
 Oct 9 2016, 03:25:43 PM

It was either Peter Pan Starring Sandy Duncan or The Sound of Music with Marie Osmond.

I don't remember which came first, I was four or five, and my mother had gotten a season subscription to our local touring house for myself and her. We also saw The Nutcracker that year which became an annual tradition. So thanks Mom for exposing me to the arts at such a young age!

The next play I remember seeing was

In your opinion who is the greatest playwright of the 20th century?
 Sep 24 2016, 11:52:04 AM

Are we really considering Ibsen and Chekhov as twentieth century playwrights?

A playwright I personally would add that hasn't been mentioned above (unless I missed it?) is Ionesco.

My list would be:

Albee

Williams

Miller

Ionesco

McDonaugh

Churchhill

Hellman

Wilson

Brecht

O'Neil

Honorable Mentions:

Hamilton in Chicago
 Sep 22 2016, 04:29:24 PM

I have a few questions regarding reselling a Hamilton Chicago ticket and figured this would be a good place to ask. Pardon my ignorance! I've done a little research and I'm doing some more, but figured I should ask fellow BWW peeps!

*Note i am not selling the ticket; I'm asking for a friend and told him to hold off until I got back to him with the smartest decision for him.

A friend of mine and a group of his friends decided to all t

Public Works Twelfth Night
 Sep 3 2016, 02:57:52 PM

I would get in line very early to secure tickets! 6 am sounds like a good time. The line will be very long and the show will sell out. With a cast of over 200 and a huge production team with everyone getting 6-8 comps involved in the show; plus all the industry people that will be wanting to see the show— it will sell out and tickets will be hard I obtain. I had to give 4 of my comps to higher ups in the industry last year... But I couldn't complain, with who I got to sit next to an

Tattoos on Broadway
 Aug 13 2016, 11:30:03 PM

As has been said by everyone, I'm sure in most cases it's a non issue as they make great tattoo cover ups. Especially in a big Broadway house. But let's say you had a sleeve and were going in for the role of Stanley-- let's face it, you're not getting the part.

I'm pretty sure Disney parks casting wouldn't hire you for one of their shows if you had visible tattoos.  But they have so many strict rules regarding casting.

LaDuca Taps Vs Miller & Ben
 Jul 18 2016, 01:34:56 AM

Between the ones you've mentioned, I would go with LaDuca. My students love them. The Capezio Adult Chorus Is a great shoe as well. They're probably around the same price as LaDuca.

I couldn't tell you more as I'm a guy so I'm going off what my female students say and what look and sound the best. But if you wanted advice on a traditional tap shoe- the K360 is the best on the market.... I'm still bitter they no longer make Alex
