GYPSY Previews

What a marvelous post sonofrobbie!  Now I really can’t wait watching it next week!  I have only watched the Bette Midler version and haven’t yet witnessed this live on stage.  I’m glad you were able to give us full insight on the different Roses of the past.  I was blown away by Audra’s acting on the TV special interview.  And admittedly I was disappointed hearing the bootleg of Rose’s Turn.  Thank you so much for putting t

Ibsen's GHOSTS at LCT

Leslie Melville was hypnotic in the BAM revival.  Even though I was way back at the theatre I was mesmerized by her performance.  Billy Howle gave also a stunning performance as her son.  I really love that production.

TAMMY, Paper those seats!
 Nov 29 2024, 03:24:49 PM

I won the lottery for the matinee last Sunday but lost the evening.  Unfortunately I also won Hills of California that afternoon (well fortunately for this matter as HOC offered center orchestra third row seat!).  So I tried coming to the Palace Box office to see if I can buy a General Rush ticket and they wouldn’t even give me one! They say they only offer student Rush.  I mean seriously?  I’m offering to pay $50 even for obstructed view seat and you’re

If this would indeed come to fruition then so far, among all the already confirmed Spring shows coming, I believe Joshua Henry would finally win his mulch deserved Tony Award.

For Best Revival, they would need to improve their set design, and for George C Wolff to fail miserably (highly unlikely) for it to beat Gypsy.

I’ll be cursing the tv academy if they don’t at least nominate her.  That was an Emmy winning performance!

OUR TOWN 2024 Broadway Reviews
 Oct 11 2024, 11:45:13 AM

Oh I think you can count out RDJ.  I’m not that impressed with his work on an ok show.  Plus it would have ended before Christmas I’m guessing he would be forgotten come Tony month.  I haven’t yet watched Our Town but I do hope Jim would be memorable enough to clinch that nomination.  But then again you can’t underestimate the star power of RDJ…. But… then again (whew I’m already contradicting myself so many times now!) Tony vote

wow!  I never thought he would actually come.  Does this mean that they maybe really considering a transfer to Broadway?  I really love this show.  Could there be two competing Lloyd Webber Best Musical Revival come Tony time?  How exciting that we would again witness another Lloyd Webber Vs Sondheim for the top (revival) award?  It has only been after a

Oh my god! That performance of Illinoise!!!  I’m crying all over again!

it’s so brave of them to feature two men passionately kissing and dancing front and center in a Tony performance.

now I’m bitter all over again for Ricky Ubeda and Ben Cook snubs!

Titanique Seating Question
 Jun 3 2024, 02:21:28 PM

Daryl Roth Theater is really not that big.  While seating up close in such an intimate setting would always be great but it all depends if you have the extra money to splurge on it. In this kind of piece being a comedy i believe you would still have fun if you sit farther back.  Also remember there is a sale on Todaytix that may save you more money.  Have fun!

That was so haunting.  Shara Nova’s voice is so sublime and exquisite.

Still can’t believe Ben Cook wasn’t nominated for this scene alone.

My god the orchestrations are so beautiful!

ILLINOISE Reviews
 May 6 2024, 01:33:51 PM

I also would like to make a a case about Illinoise being a musical.  We have to remember that unlike ballet or dance performances that have recorded vocals or live vocals from the orchestra, Illinoise three vocalists are PART OF THE CAST.  if you would check you playbills they are even have character names - Barsine, Nacna and Arctiini (named after families of moths). Even in the cast appearances these lovely talented “moths” are included (they’re the first in

Stereophonic is an absolutely brilliant feat of orchestration. The two (technically, three) versions of “Bright” alone are a great example of that. They sound like entirely different songs played back to back, but they’re just re-orchestrated within the context of the show.

I totally agree with Orchestrations. As much as I love Stereophonic I was shocked it got nominated.  I mean… with so many lush orchestrations in musicals (even though admittedly their scores wasn’t that good) a play with a handsfulll of songs gets in?!?  S
