Wow that was a process! After it unpaused, I waited 25 mins. Then I had to input the amex presale code. Waited another 10 mins. Then click on the date.... you get where I'm going.
My budget was $100 and was able to get 2nd row upper orchestra for $98.50. Regular orch seats were all over $100 (from what I remember ranged up to around $300.)
"We're aware that a technical issue is preventing folks from purchasing tickets at the moment. We're incredibly sorry for the inconvenience, and our web team is actively working to resolve the issue.
You guys are lucky! When we did rush (lined up in the cold morning rush) we were given rear mezz seats. Should have gone later in the day since the show wasn’t sold out.

The idea that anyone isdisappointed that a true talent gets a shot at a star turn is so weird to me. Especially with Oh Mary! and Cole’s breakout performance in it. How is a star born if star vehiclesare only given to already bonafide stars?Bein

What makes their operating costs so high for such a small cast? Is it due to the technical elements?"

I think the dates when Hannah Solow performed were eventually sold out too (not sure if all remaining unsold tix eventually became rush tickets day of but I don’t rec

Per her last IG post "Just a note to thank those of you who are waiting at the stage door after@gypsybway🌹While we are in previews and still rehearsing every day I’m not going to be signing as I’m trying to make sure I stay healthy. Thank you so much for understanding! 🙏🏾❤️🌹" I think people are forgetting or genuinely don't know that the entire cast is in rehearsal every day from about 10am - 5pm and then doing the show at night and the weather just changed."
I think it’s fine not to autograph/sign anything. Before pandemic at Hello Dolly, Bette Midler never or rarely signed anything. At stage door most times she would just wave at everyone and then go to her car. Once she did give us a handshake and thanked us (of course she was wearing a glove).
From looking at Telecharge, it’s not really sold out. The Majestic is a huge theater and during slow weeks I have a feeling this show might be on TKTS…. Unless they already have a discount code?
Personally it is a better theater experience for me (average audience member) when the theater isn’t full. Shorter lines overall especially the restroom line and the likelihood of not having anyone sit in front of me or beside me makes the overall experience more comfortable.
I think providing more comp tickets so friends and family of the cast can see the show before it closes sounds great; or provide a huge Black Friday promo for its fans
Maybe back during recession 2008-2009 but honestly Wicked doesn’t need to stunt cast at all. It seems to me they change mostly keep Elphaba/Glinda actors for only 1-2 years and then replacing them.
also I know of at least 2 friends who now wants to see the show on Broadway to learn what happens in part 2 (or at least know how it ends.)
I thought Patsy was pretty good in Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf alongside Metcalf back in early 2020 before Broadway closed down. I haven’t seen Streetcar and hope to get tickets when it opens up to general sale.
Thanks for sharing! I finally watched Yellow Face yesterday where they had a talkback afterwards. It was cool to see the playwright there and answer questions on the development of the play through the years.
i didn’t know much about the play beforehand and will admit was tempted to google some things like Marcus Gee to see what was real and what was fiction.
I vaguely remember Yul Brynner from King and I was from Far East Russia but wasn’t sure if that was part

I agree. It's very well possible that in any year with 5 nominees, the actual Tony winner just won by 21% of the votes. For transparency it would be great to see % result
Review: Tammy Faye Was Over-the-Top. This Musical Makes Her Small."
Ah I see they kept the Pope scenes. I thought those were unnecessary and could have been cut. Excerpt from the NYT review:
“If the emotional charge does not detonate, neither does the toothless satire — a timidity illustrated by confabs involving Pope John Paul II (Andy Taylor), the president of the Church of Latter-day Saints (Max Gordon Moore) and the archbishop of Canterbury (Ian Lassiter). When those three spiritual leaders discuss the Bakkers, it feels as if we’re watching the heads of mafia families trying to figure out how to handle an upstart rival. But Graham does not commit to that thought-provoking angle so the scenes feel superfluous.”
runtime is 2h35mins so they did cut some things but it sounds like they needed to cut more. I’ll admit I wanted to see this again after opening to see the changes but after reading these reviews will most likely not watch it again.

They do. When this production was off-West End at the Almeida theatre two years ago, tickets were less than 50 pounds. I have friends who watched that production paying 10-20 pounds each. They even had some seats that cost 5 pounds for folks under 25 years of age.
