Enjoy! We just got back about 2 weeks ago. I love NYC!! Can't wait to hear all your reviews.

Ragtime!

My daughter was part of the production here in Utah with Kenita Miller (Sara) and Duane Martin Foster (Coalhouse) and Sondra Bonitto (who was in the OBC)but I never got to see the OBC, would have loved to have seen BSM!

I would make sure your voice teacher knows...otherwise find a different teacher. Ask him/her, that's what you're paying them for :)
re: little help...

I ordered tickets online for Caroline or Change prior to going to NYC and they were $67 each but they were in the hearing impaired section (left side of theatre because they were doing "closed captioning" that night) but when I picked them up at the box office they moved us to actually better seats, 5th row center. Awesome show.
re: Idina Menzel at the stage door!
 Jul 25 2004, 12:31:20 AM
This was the first time we did the "stage door thing" and the impression I got from Idina is she is a private and shy person and is a little overwhelmed by it all? Just an observation.

A friend of a friend who is in the cast left a note at our hotel upon arriving telling us to go to the theatre and give our names to the doorman at the stagedoor. Then after the show was over we went to the stage door and he recognized us and escorted us in. Just real lucky and fortunate!!

We were so lucky to have met her, Kristin and Norbert among others on 7/13. We were escorted through the stagedoor after the show and given a backstage tour. Saw all the costumes, wigs, hats, dressing rooms, harnesses for the flying monkeys and my daughter (pictured with Idina) stood center stage at the Gershwin and whispered..."someday I'll be here" Hey, it doesn't cost anything to dream. Idina was so kind, signed the Playbill and talked to us; very sweet! Best of luck meeting her! Meeting

We got to go backstage and get a tour on Tuesday the 13th after the show. Got pictures of Idina & Kristin with my daughter and some of Kristin signing Playbills. She was pretty cute, wearing a baseball cap and glasses. Don't know if you would want these in your scrapbook but you could cut my daughter out of the picture :) Just let me know.
re: New York Hotel--The Hotel Casablanca?
 Jul 18 2004, 11:35:46 PM
Just got back from NYC Friday...stayed at The Belvedere on 48th between 8th and 9th. $150.00 a night, very clean, doorman, wonderful staff, microwave, small frig in room, large rooms, small bathrooms but walked to all the theatres even to the Empire State building. Great location on tree lined street with market right around the corner. here is a fire station close by so take ear plugs and request upper floor. We were on the 14th floor. Highly recommend!

Saw her last week...she should stick to tv. Wierd facial expressions and her poor voice; it was kind of sad. Costumes were nice but going to a 2:00 show with hundreds of kids under the age of 11...not the way to spend an afternoon.
re: Wicked Obsessed - Do I Need Help?

I saw it Tuesday night for the first time and after the opening number I looked at my 12 year old daughter and we both had tears running down our cheeks. It was incredible. It was the first show since both sides came to an agreement and everyone in the cast was so pumped up. Had a wonderful connection to go backstage after the show and saw all the wigs, costumes...yes Idina's black dress is very heavy and becasue of copyright laws to The Wizard of Oz the dress could not be all black so there'

With the two sides back at the bargining table today... where is the most current site to go to for the latest news; where would it be posted if any news was released? I'm getting on a plane tomorrow to come to the east coast and have tickets for shows starting the 14th. Anxious to hear good news! ie: eveyone's happy and the shows go on! Thanks

re: 'Beauty and the Beast' hits regional theatres....

It's coming to Pioneer Theatre Company here in Salt Lake City December 2004. They already had auditions for some parts. I know Chip has been cast but they always come to NYC for the leads. When they did Cyrano, Patrick Page was Cyrano (excellent job!) and for Ragtime Duane Martin Foster was Coalhouse with Kenita Miller as Sara so the casts are first rate.

What if...there is a strike and someone (me) has over $800.00 in show tickets...are they refunded or are we just screwed? Thanks
