Harmonizing and blending with Bernadette Peters Feb 9
2025, 03:21:23 PM
The point of the exercise is trying to understand a voice type. Where on a technical standpoint a straight is easier to blend in with choral sound. There are some situations where ie moulin rouge throughout the press tour Aaron tveit would say how he an Karen Olivios voices blended so well (honestly I saw them live I couldn’t hear that it was anything incredible). So in the conversation I was having with a colleague the uniqueness of Bernadette Peters came up. And without simply having

Harmonizing and blending with Bernadette Peters Feb 9
2025, 12:17:41 AM
Due to Bernadette’s distinct vocal sound and style. I’m curious if pairing her with a younger female voice (say 35-45) who would someone recommend A similarly raw voice like a Caisse levy or a more pure classical tone like a Laura Osnes. Or is there another voice that you can think of that would work well to blend with her voice

Next Les Mis Revival on Broadway Feb 2

I agree. The original turntable staging was the best. However I did prefer the modern tempos. I would love an original revival. Not reimagining or cheap knockoff

I do wonder if they cast a “Name” Che instead of it could still have the success ala Ricky Martin revival. If they were to have say an Enrique Iglesias type to lead.

With 2025 being the 40th anniversary of the show and 2027 being 40 years for the OBC do you think we’ll be seeing another revival ( it’s already been 9 years since the last revival) or do you think Les Mis will be waiting for the 50 for the next big revival on Broadway ?

Future Bernadette Peters on Broadway shows? Jan 14
2025, 12:19:10 AM
I’m curious what people’s thoughts are. A friend of mine has been wanting to see Bernadette Peters in a Broadway show for some time now. She’s seen her live but not on Broadway. And with Old Friends coming she’s wondering if she should bank on that as the opportunity to do so. Or hold out for an actual show. I realize Bernadette is now getting up in age where 8 shows a week is a big expectation. I’m curious thoughts? Do you think w

Curious people’s ranking. Mine:
Patti Lupone Angela Lansbury Ethel Merman
Bernadette Peters
Tyne Daly
Audra McDonald honestly I found her to be the worst by far)
I will say my assessment of Ethel Merman’s is based on archives, and I did not see her live.
the others as well, for people interested are available at the NYPL if you did miss out on seeing them. &n

I wonder if the plan is for a 12-18 week limited run from October -January… if so I would think they would be casting Ramin and Lea for sure. I just can’t see this being a year run or an open run. (Personally I’m hoping it’ll still be open March/april 2026. )

Broadway in 2029-30 predictions Dec 4
2024, 03:54:09 PM
Considering so many productions take 7-10 years from initial idea to Broadway. It got me thinking about where and what Broadway theatre will be like by the 2029-30 season
- I’m guess long runners will still be lion king, wicked, Hamilton. (Though I’m guessing Chicago will close up shop by then
- I think we may begin to see more in concert style shows (large orchestra/but low tech). I could be very wrong but i just feel that there needs to be some sort of cultural shi

The case of Elton John on Broadway Nov 27
2024, 03:44:49 PM
While I confess I think he’s one of the greatest songwriters over the last century. I am truly perplexed by the range it which his theatre works have survived or died on Broadway. While he has some of the biggest hits over the last 30 years (the lion king, AIDA, Billy Elliot). He’s also now had almost as many flops (LESTAT, Tammy)
im curious what the message board thinks of the downfalls of his strengths for the theatre. Because I do personally place

This is all fascinating. When I pay my 100s of dollars for a night out at the theatre. I truly could care less what the individuals personal political view is of mine. In fact there are times when I know the persons political view is very much against mine but they are fantastic in the role and the show overall. I just don’t care. I do feel terrible for those who’ve been pulled through the ringer (Nicole. Laura Osnes. Zachary Levi) based on politics or political
