HAIRSPRAY RED CARPET TALENT SEARCH CONTEST!  Jun 6 2007, 01:38:27 PM
Is anyone doing this??

SHOW OFF YOUR TALENT! SUBMIT YOUR VIDEO!

Just like Tracy Turnblad in HAIRSPRAY, you can turn your talent into stardom. Submit a video of yourself showing off your talent... whether it's singing, dancing or spinning plates! The only limit is your imagination. Show us why YOU should be a star.

Here’s how it works:
1) Submit a video of yourself showing off your talent.
2) 5 Finalists will be selected, and MySpacers will vote for the winner.
3) You and a guest will fly to Los Angeles, get a complete make-over by Sebastian stylists, and will conduct interviews of the stars from the Hollywood premiere of HAIRSPRAY.

MySpace Contest can be found at:
http://track.deep-focus.net/r/d99175c143e8060aa4a81ff4f84b1359/

Video submissions are due by June 7th.

re: The very PHOTOGENIC cast of London's Ave Q  Jun 29 2006, 11:05:31 AM
Such a shame that it got trashed by the critics this morning:
http://www.whatsonstage.com/dl/page.php?page=greenroom&story=E8821151573441&PHPSESSID=7dfc3543b877c636bb82818509e43d17

The word of mouth, however, is fantastic and people love it - giving standing ovations, wich is very rare in London. But if they don't lower ticket prices, it will die in the West End. Such a shame.

Why does everyone feel bad for the cast? I'm sure they read that terrible script before they signed on.

re: Tarzan Tour Possible?  May 6 2006, 11:57:14 AM
I don't think it will have anything to do with the technical stuff. But I doubt that the mess that I saw last night will get good reviews to even stay open that long in New York.

Brantley is spot-on.
BASED ON A TOTALLY TRUE STORY  Apr 12 2006, 05:16:02 PM
Just a quick note to recommend a wonderful little gem of a play I saw at Manhattan Theatre Club - Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa's "Based on a totally true Story". It's quirky, funny, witty, sweet and just beautifully written. The cast is terrific (especially Carson Elrod), and the direction, set design and lighting are spot-on.

Please try and go see it! See info below.

"Ethan Keene is a young playwright and comic book writer who’s on the verge of breaking through. When a veteran Hollywood producer decides she wants to turn one of his plays into a horror movie, the frenzy that follows forces him to deal with the real drama in his life — his relationships with his boyfriend and his father."

That's a great poster indeed!
Glad your publicist thinks so too, as you didn't ask him for his opinion before it went up... :)

Thanks, Garland!
That's the most idiotic thing I've ever heard, adamgreer! What are you, 12?

re: Mr. Marmalade  Nov 21 2005, 05:22:48 PM
The reviews have been unfair. Yes, it does go on for too long and it's not as deep as it coule have been. But it's totally enjoyable. Mamie Gummer is terrific. Adults playing kids can go wrong so easily. But she pulled it off amazingly well.

Hey, no sarcasm, Tiny-Toon!
In My Life -- all weirded up  Oct 20 2005, 09:27:45 PM
I can only agree with you, MusicalComedyMan! I wanted to do cruel things to that girl. I loathe "performances" like that.

At the same time, I'm surprised that David Turner isn't raved about. He saves that show single-handedly by not taking it serious at all. Every line he delivers is a treat.

re: 'PROOF' Trailer Now Online!!  Jul 26 2005, 10:55:30 PM
Finally! I can't wait.

Gwyneth did an amazing job on the London stage in PROOF. And this is such a fine cast. Should be good...

re: Avenue Q to Premiere in London in February 2006  Jul 21 2005, 03:41:56 PM
I've heard that Cameron wants to cut Gary Coleman out completely, but that the creators didn't approve. Q is such a New York show, but I hope that UK audiences will get it. And I know that Johnny T is dying to do it over there. We shall see...
