Which Regional Theatres Do You Think are Overdue for a Tony?
 Aug 14 2016, 09:13:01 PM

It could never happen by the rules but I'd sure like to see Canada's Stratford and Shaw Festivals get some recognition.

Jonathan Pryce in Merchant of Venice
 Jul 25 2016, 08:10:02 PM

Why bother to go it? Christopher Isherwood revealed just about every element of this production of Merchant in his review. No need to discuss in such detail. This is why I read the critics after I see a show, and then, only if I want to. (I'm in Toronto now and won't be back for awhile, so I did read this review)

She Loves Me streaming
 Jul 6 2016, 10:04:43 PM

I managed with difficulty to connect up with the live stream. The show was great. I took out a monthly subscription to see Billy Elliot and a couple of others. What a waste! I have had no luck at all. I click on Billy, attempt to sign in with my e-mail and password with no luck at all. What a waste of money! Why does everything have to be so user unfriendly?  I would ask for my money back but I don't know how.

Must read books for musical theater freaks
 Jun 27 2016, 07:38:39 PM

For kids I'd definitely go with Tim Federle's "Nate"series, Actually they're good reading for anybody. The second book has an absolutely amazing ending.

What shows did you go in with low expectations but ended up really enjoying?
 Jun 19 2016, 11:47:49 PM

I went to After Midnight at a friend's urging with fairly low expectations.I ended up being astonished by the amount of talent present on that stage.

I went to Once with low expectations having hated the movie. I didn't much like the musical but I didn't hate it either.

I hadn't expected to love Pippin, not being a Cirque du Soleil type person. I was stunned by what I witnessed on that stage. Amazing!

Closing Nights
 Jun 11 2016, 11:01:02 PM

I have been to several closing performances. Billy Elliot was particularly memorable. All the Billys were present and Stephen Daldry spoke in appreciation. I just saw the closing performance of American Psycho. It appeared to be a regular curtain call with Ben Walker pushed onstage for an extra bow. No participation by creative team. Twyla Tharp took a bow at the final show of Come Fly Away. The Hair revival featured an onstage celebration with cast and audience.

Seeing She Loves Me matinee this Saturday- likelihood of leads being present?
 Jun 8 2016, 06:13:15 PM

I sat front and center last Saturday evening. All cast was in attendance although Laura sent out autographed programs rather than signing outside. Both the seat and the show were great!

Worst song ever written for a musical
 May 29 2016, 09:18:33 AM

Les Miz lost something when Little People was cut. It gave the show a bit of life and energy and was a crowd pleaser. I saw it in the original London production.

I nominate the moo cow song from Rent. Poor Idina who had to sing it every night.

Glinda's new song at the conclusion ALW's Wizard is one of his best.
