CFA now the favorite for Tony?
 Jun 4 2017, 11:04:06 PM

After the Drama Desk win, does CFA enter the Tony's as the favorite for Best Musical?

Wondering whether there is an outside chance for a couple additional supporting actor/actress nominations for Come From Away, and if so who in the ensemble could be named (after Jenn):

Chad Kimball, Joel Hatch, Astrid Van Wieren?

When was the last time there was a 3-way race for Best Musical?

Right you are; Score and Book only!

Riedel on the current season

"Finally, “Come From Away” is rapidly emerging as the front-runner for Best Musical. I’ve heard this from four of Broadway’s most powerful producers, all good at picking winners.

Love reading that, albeit from the trashy, sensationalist Riedel

Hein/Sankoff: Real-Life Couples winning Tony?

With David Hein and Irene Sankoff as legit contenders for a Tony for Best Score (perhaps an even greater chance for Best Book and Best New Musical), I'm wondering if there is a precedent for a real-life couple winning a Tony in any of these categories.

By the sounds of it, Jen Colella is the best bet of any of the ensemble to get nominated for a Tony! I assume it would be in a supporting role? For those who have seen it, are there any other candidates for Tony noms?

Michael Friedman?
 Dec 18 2016, 12:02:23 PM

Does anyone happen to know the year he was born? I'm performing his song "Horrible Seders" (based on gay Jewish identity of Tony Kushner, from the song cycle "Stars of David" in a recital and want to include his year of birth in my program notes. His wiki bio and other bios online don't seem to include it (only that he grew up in Philadelphia).

Thanks!!

Songs to sing night of election

Some great ideas so far...funny how's it easier to capture the sentiment of B than the precise sentiment of A

You're right on both accounts....I've edited the title!

Post-election anthem?
 Nov 5 2016, 01:52:49 PM

I'm looking for a ballad to sing next Friday that will represent the mood after the election...

Plan A) a prayer-like anthem to celebrate Hillary winning and for healing the country, moving forward...

Plan B) a song to sing if (God-Forbid) Trump wins....

Doesn't have to be a musical theatre song necessarily...

Any ideas?

Great ideas, y'all! Keep 'em coming...

Songs about Beginnings

I'm leading a Broadway musical concert + discussion group for seniors this week on the theme of "Beginnings" (or new beginnings).

Wondering if people here might be able to help me generate a list of classic Broadway songs (preferably from the Golden Age of musicals) that relate directly to beginnings!

Thanks!!
