I am so glad someone from the cast has weighed in, and with great insight into the incredible work behind this show. I saw it four times, and wish I could go see it again and again. Each time I learned more, felt more, and wanted to know more. I am also someone who loves musicals featuring African Americans - Ain't Misbehavin', Sophisticated Ladies, and more recently, After Midnight - but nothing comes close to what I witnessed in Shuffle Along. The energy in the ensemble was palpable

I went to the opening of Newton's Cradle last night and loved it. Really amazing performances from the entire cast, and an especially moving act 2. In director Victoria Clark's words, the show explores "the right of every human to be fully and completely who they are, without labels" in the context of a family story that moves fluidly back and forth in time, and uses innovative staging to help get inside the mind of the protagonist who is living with autism.
