re: Stunning audio disasters at the Tony's
 Jun 8 2009, 09:47:44 AM
I am 99.9% that Bret Michaels from Poison lipsynced "Nothin' but a good time." It sounded way too similar to the original record, which I'm a fan of, and having watched Rock of Love Bus this past season.. his voice sounds way different then it did back in the day. Just my two cents.

But yeah - audio hurricane last night. Horrible.

Unpopular Opinions You Hold

Best. Thread. Ever.

- BKLYN wasn't that bad. It was a fun night of theatre with a talented cast. That said, Eden Espinosa isn't THAT amazing.
- Dance of the Vampires was clever and funny and has a great score.
- I freakin' LOVE Legally Blonde.
- Michael Cerveris is really affected in everything he does.
- Emmy Rossum was terrible in the terrible POTO movie. And Patrick Wilson, despite giving a good performance, was too old to play her "childhood sweetheart."

Wow. I got mine at a Borders in Chicago two days before Christmas. Weird.

I like the recording a lot...but upwards of 90 bucks? Not that much.

I didn't even pay THAT much for Minnie's Boys... and come on! :)

Robertson was also excellent in the Drury Lane Grand Hotel. :)

Brad Weinstock will be the new tour Boq in Wicked as well, FYI.
OK, I laughed...

Last night, at the Chicago opening of the Michael and Rachel York Camelot tour, I was sitting by some ladies - and heard one say to the other:

"It's strange that they have a father and daughter playing Arthur and Guenevere, isn't it?"

:) Oh, audiences.

Carry on.

Pretty sure commasplice's list is correct - Binney IS Leaf. As for Derrick Trumbly (original Chicago Leaf), he's in Shenandoah at the Marriot, last I heard. Also heard rumblings that a few of the original Chicago Bee-sters are going into/had auditions for the Chicago Wicked, so... we shall see.
re: Megan Mullally Cast in Young Frankenstein?

Please let this be true.

Could it be because of Kristin's new pilot - "Pushing Daisies?"

re: Roles You Wish People Would Do/Had Done
 Feb 14 2007, 03:29:05 PM
I most definitely think Patti LuPone would be sensational in Drowsy - AND that Nathan could have been amazing in Fiddler.

other ideas ->

Alice Ripley as Florence in Chess
Judy Kuhn as Mother in Ragtime
Emily Skinner as Mama Rose (Someday, someday...)
Sara Ramirez as The Witch in Into the Woods
Marin Mazzie as Charlotte in A little night music
Christopher Sieber as Julian Marsh

:) Fun Question.

re: What becomes of Tevye and family after they leave Anatevka?

justagirl2, I wouldn't have minded my Motel getting shot either. I sense a trend... :)
re: what if ' A Chorus Line' doesn't win the tony?
 Oct 10 2006, 02:38:00 PM
It'll get at least a nomination (based on the history of the show and the love the Broadway community has for it) but I doubt it'll win.
re: That Darn Hedy Weiss.....
 Aug 31 2006, 05:09:32 PM
[Don't forget Hedy's idea that Wicked had something to do with slavery when they hung Fiyero - who happened to be played by Derrick Williams in it's original appearance as a tour, pre sit-down in Chicago - from the poles..]

Oops, she did it again!
She wrote a review -
She made people mad -
Oh Hedy, Hedy...

re: Madonna offered lead in Mamma Mia movie
 Aug 31 2006, 05:07:20 PM
Mamma Mia is one of those musicals that, if turned into a movie, needs and can support big stars of both movies and music in the roles. I think Madonna would be amazing.

As long as Paris Hilton isn't cast as Sophie, I'll be fine.

Yay for Michael Ingersoll!!
 Aug 31 2006, 05:04:57 PM
Michael Ingersoll recently played Johnathan in Tick, Tick..Boom in Chicago and was marvelous! He'll be wonderful in the tour!
re: Celia is Eponine
 Aug 30 2006, 01:38:07 PM
Aww - My favorite Eponine, Jessica Snow-Wilson, takes on Olive, while Celia moves upward and onward to play Eponine. Round and round we go!
re: Jim Broadbent to join Depp in 'Sweeney'?
 Aug 25 2006, 11:03:23 AM
Good choice, Broadbent.

Now, can they PLEASE announce Catherine O'Hara as Mrs. Lovett? PLEASE!?

Chicago Sun-Times Review

Patti as Rose was a revelation. Seriously the best performance I've ever seen onstage. She deserves all the accolades in the world for the work she did this weekend at Ravinia.
re: Mariah as Deena?
 Aug 7 2006, 10:55:02 AM
She'd probably demand to sing "And I am telling you..." Like a diva of Mariah's stature is going to let a song like THAT go to another actress/singer. Right.
re: Sunday in the Park looking likely
 Aug 7 2006, 10:52:47 AM
...*(Magic is totally stunned that the tweens haven't yet chimed in with 'OMG! Norbert and Idina should play the roles! yet...)*......

and Brian d'Arcy James is heaven on earth.
