Hi Michael,
One thing you have to keep in mind is that [title of show] is not just making a statement about how musicals are written, but they are also trying to make a statement about how Broadway shows are produced and marketed.
For example, you mention finding the gross ticket sales "heartbreaking", because gross sales are typically how Broadway shows are measured. But isn't "net profit" a better indicator of any successful enterprise? It certainly is to Kevin McCollum. For
