I remember from my drama class that THEATER was the building while THEATRE was the actual act of performing. hope this helps.

i havent seen many shows so all my choices come from the same show. From the current tour of RENT: Andy Meeks, Damien D Smith and Aswad. From RENT on broadway: Sebastian Arcelus.
