OTHER DESERT CITIES Film Casting Feb 8
2012, 10:42:07 PM
Love the idea of Diane Keaton for Silda, perfect role for her right now. Let's round it out with Sigourney Weaver, Tommy Lee Jones, Scarlet Johansson, and Jake Gyllenhaal. I would see that.

The House of Blue Leaves- 1st preview Apr 19

Also... If Stuart Thompson or Scott Rudin have any interns reading this board, please pass along to your bosses that they need to petition Edie Falco to Featured Actress. I would buy placing Bunny & Bananas in either category. While Edie would get nominated in either, I'm afraid she would get left behind in the wake of the tour-de-force that is Frances. But, she would win Featured Actress hands down, race over. Edie needs to EGOT. Please help her make that happen.

The House of Blue Leaves- 1st preview Apr 19
2011, 08:33:11 AM
Also saw it last night and thought it was a fantastic evening at the theatre. Probably my favorite revival of the season I've seen thus far. Ben Stiller gave a wonderful performance. Familiar and funny, yet layered and deeply moving. He was the surprise for me, as I was braced for distaste as I haven't really liked any of his film career. Edie Falco was wonderful. Just an all-around lived in performance. Jennifer Jason Leigh was just not very good, which is all tha

2011 Pulitzer Prize Finalists Apr 18
2011, 08:52:58 AM
My prediction is Clybourne Park winning, with The Scottsboro Boys and Time Stands Still as finalists. Though I was shocked how last years panned out, so I also wouldn't be surprised if none of those make the cut either.

BENGAL TIGER TDF Tickets Friday 3/25 Mar 23
2011, 08:08:54 AM
TDF seats are assigned the day of the show, so all I know is that they are somewhere in the theatre. I bought them minutes after they went up online though, so they should be near the top of the list of people to seat. For right now, I'd like to see them go as a pair, but you could check back with me tomorrow--or if someone else on here is interested in a single ticket, let me know. $37 each! What a deal!

The 2010-2011 Broadway Real Estate Thread Nov 14
2010, 10:34:30 AM
I started thinking over my morning coffee about how although the spring looks really busy, there are still lots of houses that won't have tenants. Anyone have any insights or guesses into whats going in? Here's a snapshot of the spring: American Airlines: Mrs. Warren/Importance of Being Earnest/People in the Picture Barrymore: Elling (to March 20) Beaumont: A Free Man of Color/War Horse Belasco: Women on the Verge (to Jan 23) Booth: Next to Normal (to

THE UNOFFICIAL 'FREE MAN OF COLOR' on Broadway Thread Nov 13
2010, 10:42:42 AM
I saw the show last night, and think my response is much more positive than most others on this board. About half of the play is absolutely brilliant, about a quarter is mediocre well-made play, and about a quarter is dreadfully boring for pages at a time. I will take half brilliant, that's more than you can realistically expect for new plays on Broadway. Jeffrey's Wright performance is stunningly good, seriously incredible stuff. mos, Paul Dano, Veanne Cox and John McMarti

Merchant Lotto? Nov 10
2010, 12:39:51 AM
The seats are the the left and right sides of the last row of the mezzanine. Small theatre though, so not a bad seat at all. I went on a Saturday matinee and there was a very small crowd. Pretty sure everyone there got a ticket.

How has the student rush for Woman On The Verge been? Nov 1

All I missed was about 2/3 of the projection screen, no action.

How has the student rush for Woman On The Verge been? Oct 31
2010, 01:24:39 PM
I got student rush at noon for yesterday's matinee. Orchestra, partial view. There were only a few other people there, and many of the pairs of the far side aisles were empty, meaning there were probably more rush tickets that didn't sell.

IN THE WAKE - Anyone Seen It Yet? Oct 31
2010, 09:42:30 AM
I thought it was brilliantly written, with just superb, fresh characters that pop off the page. I didn't mind the muddled sexuality of the protagonist, I thought that led to her complexity, she didn't know who she was either. I did get a little annoyed by her asides to the audience. They felt unnecessary and they didn't tell us anything new. However, my biggest issue is I really don't know how many plays I need to see about white liberal guilt set in New York apartments. Whi

WOMEN ON THE VERGE OF A NERVOUS BREAKDOWN begins previews TONIGHT! Oct 31
2010, 09:36:22 AM
Oh, I forgot to mentioned: Bravo to the Shuberts for the Belasco renovation. It looks gorgeous, I was truly blown away. And...I learned from the Lincoln Center patrons next to me that Sherie also starred in the movie "Women on the Verge" but became famous for that loud musical "Nearly Normal", for which she won the Tony.

WOMEN ON THE VERGE OF A NERVOUS BREAKDOWN begins previews TONIGHT! Oct 30

I'll go ahead and affirm you, outofsight. There is a tendency towards hyperbole on this board. Everything is either a horrible trainwreck or the best show to ever trod the boards. It's a good show, it's not great, I probably won't remember it vividly in five years, but I didn't see anything awful about it at all.
