Its almost like these two critics have been having a war of words in the halls of the Oakland Tribute and decided to continue the argument in their respective reviews. The Rock Critic, like most rock critics, hates theatre, hate rock musicals more, and this one is obviously heated up about his heroic Green Day's transgressions into the world of faggy entertainment. The Theatre Critic is compensating for her love of rock musicals by merely (and over-)stating the show is "abstract" as if that explains everything about the show's narrative failings. There might be a real review somewhere between these essays if you look hard enough.
I can't find it now, but apparently on her work-related blog, she had written about Lestat in advance during previews, and she ended up paying her own way to opening night. Someone please tell me if I'm wrong.
