does anyone know the deal with mti and the releasing of this show's rights? on the website it says currently restricted and it's said that for a while. any information would be greatly appreciated.

tick, tick... BOOM! is now available outside the US through Hal Leonard -- despite rumors to the contrary, American amateur rights have not yet been released

any idea when they will be released? also, there have been many community theatre productions, so how are those up legally?

If the rights haven't been released in the states, then those community productions probably *aren't* up legally. I've heard of several relatively recent illegal productions.

Even the international rights were closely controlled by the Larson Estate with various interested parties reportedly refused the opportunity to produce on the grounds that their proposals for the show weren't suitable.

hmmm. there are people at my school who want to use the show for educational purposes. but if the rights aren't out... i guess i have the script and the vocal selections have every song with piano and guitar huh?

MTI is however accepting applications for performance from the members of Club MTI. they will get first dibs at Tick, Tick... Boom! and Urinetown.

Urinetown and Tick Tick BOOM come out during the summer officially..someone posted a thread like this and someone else posted an MTI letter that was sent in response to the question

and all that I could do because of you was talk of love...

Another related question. i have a friend in Southeast Asia that is trying to get the license for Beauty and the Beast. She had contacted MTI's rep office in Japan. It been over a month and they have not responded to her inquiry. She just want to know if the license is available for southeast Asia (I know there is a Beauty and the Beast production in the Phillipines. Lea Salonga was supposed to be Beauty but backed out at the last moment.) Should she just contact MTI directly?
