I might have to see this twice. Once in Atlanta, once in Nashville. Anyone know how the Andrew Jackson Hall is?

Very excited to see the cast finalized. I loved the show when I saw it in NYC, but worry about it playing in some of the bigger theaters on the tour. Part of what makes the show so great in NYC is the intimacy of the theater. I fear that will be lost on some of these tour stops.

I'm glad that Katie's playing Marcy. She is the only Marcy I haven't seen on Broadway, but I met her after one of the shows and she was very sweet. I think I'll definitley have to see this somewhere.

I can very strongly vouch for Miguel Cervantes. I saw him in the title role of a regional Bat Boy as well as in Larry O'Keefe's cabaret show with Deven May.

Atlanta's Alliance Theatre is a perfect size for Bee. It is a strong regional theatre - and not too big at all. The Color Purple had its world premiere at this venue before hitting Broadway. In January, the new musical "Sister Act" will premiere at the Alliance. Our Fox Theatre - where most of the touring Broadway shows play in Atlanta - would have swallowed Bee.

The Alliance is absolutely perfect for Bee. I love that theatre so much. It's like a third the size of the Fox. It's tiny, but not too tiny.

Does anyone know when all the people in the tour who are listing the Broadway company were actually in the Broadway company? I don't remember Jennifer Simard being in it, or Katie Boren (Marcy Park). Only Sarah Stiles do I recall.

Agreed. I am very glad it is not playing at the Fox. I am so excited the cast has been finalized! (especially since it opens this weekend) Anyone else going to be there for the first show on Sunday?

I think it IS playing at the Fox in St. Louis, though, which will totally swallow it.

I hope this tour doesn't go the way of the Urinetown tour, poor thing.

^^ I agree- I hate to think of how small and odd Spelling bee will look at the St. Louis Fox. I hope audiences still enjoy it.

The Bushnell (in Hartford) is huge. It should be interesting to see how it plays out in these bigger spaces. But regardless, this is going to be a fun show to see on tour. These actors are going to be having a blast, and this is going to be unlike any show that these audiences have ever seen at these touring houses.

They just announced that Bee is coming to Birmingham, AL! I hope it doesn't play the big concert hall, though I imagine it would. Also, Twevle Angry Men and Altar Boyz are coming! Whoo-hoo! This rather drab season has turned into something exciting.
