looking at it now..they called Color Purple a "Shrinking Violet"-"An Oprah-sanctioned show could use a little more style and a lot more substance." Yay for Sweeney Todd!

Yes, I am excited for Jersey Boys too- it's nice to finally see a good jukebox musical.

And it's not good. It's great.

Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

Yes, it is a GREAT musical Play.

Richard Corliss, the highly regarded critic of TIME Magazine, says of the Jersey Boys score:

"this music is as sharp, smart, tuneful and complex as any new Broadway scores not of the Sondheim school."

He has a very interesting viewpoint of the contribution a well done musical catalogue such as "Jersey Boys" means to Broadway.

the jersey boys score?

its comprised of songs recorded over 50 years ago.

to treat it like an original score is an insult to composers writing today.

wonderful show, wonderful score, but not new.
