We got in on Friday afternoon and saw "Bombay Dreams" that evening. I'm glad it was the first show that I saw because if I had seen it after the other shows that I've been to so far on this trip I would have been even more disappointed. The show is colorful with good costumes and nice sets and it's technically well done. The script however is very trite and the choreography is very repetitive. There are maybe two dances that are repeated over and over but with different costumes and a variation on a move here and there. This is not a show that I will recommend people pay $100 to see.

Saturday afternoon we saw "The Frogs". LOVED IT! Don't agree at all with some of the critics on this one. Intelligent, funny and just a great experience all around.

Saturday night has been the highlight of my trip so far. "I Am My Own Wife" is simply brilliant and so is the star Jefferson Mays. If you have not had a chance to see this play yet, please do, time is running out.

Sunday afternoon. What a treat "Avenue Q" was! We had the best time and having seen "Wicked" on my last trip to NYC, I can now say that "Avenue Q" deserved its best musical award.

Sunday evening we went down to village to see "Bug". It was an interestingly strange play and very well done. If you like conspiracy theories, you'll love this play.

Monday night we went to see "Brooklyn". This one was interesting. I've read other posts on this site about the show and here are my two cents for what it's worth. I thought the way the set and the costumes were used was very clever. The performances are all good. The cast is pretty even but, in my humble opinion, Ramona shines the brightest. There is one major problem however and that is the script. I doubt that anything can be done to repair it before this show opens and I would guess that that is going to be the major issue with the critics. Even with those script problems, we still had a good time and will be purchasing the CD as soon as it's released. By the way, the no intermission thing did not bother us at all.

Six shows down, seven to go. Tonight, I make another visit to "Wicked".

Although the hype is a little died down...I think Wicked is a stronger show now...more put together than Q...don't get me wrong I'm not a shill...I just think that Wicked's overall experience is clearly superior

I'm so glad you enjoyed The Frogs!! And isn't Avenue Q such a hilarious show? I saw it last Saturday and literally laughed my way through the two hours. What a superb (and super sweet!) cast.

Have fun on the rest of marathon. I am very jealous. re: My theatre marathon, so far

Just back from dinner and before that, "Wicked". I'll talk about it more when I've seen everything else but for now I'll just say that I enjoyed it a lot more this second time seeing it.

Now to answer the questions from WiCkEd4LyFfE:

Yes, pretty far, The Bahamas.

The other six plays are: "Fiddler","The Lion King", "Hairspray", "The Producers", "Forever Tango" and "Reckless".

Got to spend an hour with Bobby Lopez and Jeff Marx (and a number of other audience members) this evening at The Drama Book Shop. It was great to hear all about the putting together of "Avenue Q" and some of their plans for the future. They played a few of their songs and one that was written for "Avenue Q" ("Tear It Up And Throw It Away") but was cut because Act One was too long and the song really did not fit the story. It was, however, quite funny and will probably end up in another project of theirs in the future. They seem to have a lot going on and are going to be busy for quite some time.
